The apartment was built 4 years ago and enjoys a perfect situation so close to shops, beaches and restaurants. Ideal for children, there is a waterpark in St Cyprien which is 20 minutes away and the beaches are safe from everything except sea urchins. There is a medical orderly on duty for anything that occurs on the beaches and there is during summer months details of the temp. Both in and out of the water and daily tests of the water for purity. If you do not know Collioure, you are in for the treat of your life. You should go to www.collioure.com which is the tourist office and find out a bit more. A very cosmopolitan village which burst into life in Summer. It has a Michelin star restaurant overlooking the bay and countless other restaurants dotted around. We have the best of every world where we are the apartment is within walking distance of everything and yet far enough away not to be troubled by noise at any time of the year. This is very accessable for a weekend.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is located on the corner of a cobbled street leading 40 yards away from the beach. The apartment could not be more central yet is sufficiently far away from the main thoroughfare to be private and quiet. The Boulangerie and the supermarket are a whopping 80 yards away on the front and if you need a paper you can catch up just around the corner. There are 2 charcuterie also within shouting distance and the local wine co-op where all the wine from the surrounding hills (very drinkable) is brought is just past the Boulangerie.

Not suitable for wheelchairs.
Outside
The Village really doesnt lend iself to outside facilities.If you can imagine pedetrian cobbled streets where the buildings overhang. The local Mairie are very strict even on balconies so when we built the Apartment they insisted on being involved in the colour of the building and the type of balconies we built which made it all the more rewarding for us to have what we wanted in the end.
Coast/Beach
There are 5 beaches in the village the nearest being Plage d’Avall 40 yards away (believe me). There are 4 others some rocky some stony and some sandy. The village can be seen on their webcam and you should take note that the camera is about 30 yards from your apartment.
Golf
I am a golfer myself and within an hour of the Apartment there are 7 golf courses 5 in Spain and 2 in France. Five of them have held National Open or PGA Tour qualifying events.
Skiing
Skiing in Andorra is one hour away in the winter.
Special interest holidays
The location is perfect for adventuring to Spain or France. It is in the heart of the wind region with vines all around the village. Spain is half an hour away. If you are an artist this is the place for you. You must read about the region before you come to fully appreciate and feel the sense of belonging there is here. This is what I imagine Chagall and Picasso must have felt the sense of timelessness. The colours of sunset on the buildings and the surrounding mountains. I am not an artist but yet it touches me too.
Travel
Perpignan city is 12 miles away and Ryanair serve that airport from all parts. Gerona airport in Spain is one hour away and accessible from all parts. Carcasonne is slightly further away. Barcelona airport is 2 hours away by car.
Distances
Chagall, Picasso, Dali, Monet and many many others came to this village to paint due to the phenomenal light that occurs in the early evening. There are many museums in the area and rugby is the chief sport played. It is advisable to visit the museums in Ceret (Picasso. Derain, Chagall), Figueres (Dali) (40 mins away), Perpignan and Cadaques (where Dali was born) which is 50kms away approx.
Further details
Collioure has been voted as one of the 7 prettiest places in Europe. It is a small fishing village with a castle in the centre and castles on the surrounding hilltops built by the Cathars. The Apartment has its own website (se link below). Please forgive the fact that some of my friends have gotten into the photos!
