The apartments are on the ground floor of an attractive pine clad chalet on a quiet site located beside pine woods and alpine meadows near Combloux village. They are compact, which is cosy in winter, but sensibly laid out; and well equipped with plenty of storage space and independent heating and hot water. There are adjacent apartments available, which is great for families and friends holidaying together. Book by the week or flexible dates! Combloux is an unspoilt traditional Savoie village, only recently gaining fame in the UK although it was one of the first ski resorts established in France due to its good snow record, magnificent views of Mont Blanc and excellent central position. It is just 8km (15 mins) from the Calais-Geneva-Chamonix autoroute.

There is an entrance cabin that serves as a hall during the day and bedroom at night. This has twin superimposed bunk beds. It has doors to: the bathroom with power shower over the bath; a separate toilet; the lounge and a separate double bedroom. The bedroom has a double bed and a built-in wardrobe. The lounge contains a sofa that quickly converts to a comfortable double bed. It is very well equipped including TV, video, radio and CD and WIFI. In one corner there is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave oven/grill, and two hotplates and comprehensive selection of utensils. French windows open onto a sunny ground floor patio.

There is an entrance cabin that serves as a hall during the day and bedroom at night. This has twin superimposed bunk beds. It has doors to: the bathroom with power shower over the bath; a separate toilet; the lounge. The lounge includes an area with permanent double bed partially separated by tall furniture. It is very well equipped including TV, video, radio and CD and WIFI. In one corner there is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave oven/grill, and two hotplates and comprehensive selection of utensils. There is a French door to private balcony (the studio is ground floor but built on a slope).

 

Notes on accommodation
Each property has thermostatic electrical room heaters and its own independent hot water supply. The apartment has three separate sleeping areas and the studio has two - these are separated by proper doors (not open mezzanines or sliding partitions). Young children are not specifically provided for but are allowed subject to careful control by parents.
You are strongly recommended to see the owners website for floor plans and much more useful information.

Accessibility
The apartments are not well suited for wheelchair access.

Outside
Outside there is a private patio or balcony with patio furniture and a communal grassed area with private tennis courts and boules area nearby. There is ample free parking around the site and in addition we have one garage that can be reserved free of charge when available. Ski lockers and rubbish disposal are available in the basements of the chalet.

Coast/Beach
Although far from the coast, the Alps have hot summer days and popular lakes with beaches and water sports. Combloux has an outdoor lido with superb views of Mont Blanc.

Golf
Megeve has a pleasant 18 hole mountain golf course which is in amazingly good condition in the summer (and part of the ski pistes in the winter). This is 5 kms from the apartments. There are also good courses within 30 to 60 minutes by car - at Chamonix, Giex, Annecy and Divonne (Geneva).

Skiing
There is a free drag lift, 150m walk from our apartments, leading to La Cry area with ski school, creche etc. Here you can buy local (Portes du Mont Blanc) pass or wider (Evasion) pass.
The most local area is between Combloux, La Giettaz and Megeve villages. It has 90 kms of beautiful tree lined pistes for all grades and superb views facing all compass directions (60 runs, 31 lifts).
The Evasion area also includes St-Gervais, St Nicholas and Les Contamines. This covers over 450 kms of pistes, 118 lifts, 36 mountain restaurants, 3 snowboard parks, and 260 snow cannons.

Travel
Combloux is one hour by autoroute from Geneva airport. There is a regular connecting coach but car hire is strongly advised to get the best of this area. It is also 560 miles by autoroute from Calais (7¼ hours driving plus stops).

We bought the apartments in 1991 for our own family holidays and have been letting ever since. We created one of the first booking websites and have introduced hundreds of UK holidaymakers to this beautiful village.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Combloux is about the most accessible ski resort by car from Calais or Geneva and central to a dozen nearby resorts. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty which has escaped the large scale developments that would put it on the beaten track for commercial holidays. And the skiing is good for all levels of ability. In summer, compared with Scotland we found the scenery more spectacular and not plagued with midges. Compared with Cornwall we found there was more to do outdoors and the weather was far better. Nice beaches too!
