Golf
Chateau De Vigiers 4* championship course - 20 mins away
The much sought-after Donald Steel has created, at Château des Vigiers, a unique 18 hole, par 72 championship course set amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and, of course, vineyards. It has been designed so the Château is the centrepiece with the 9th and 18th finishing off in front of the building. However, you can see this aesthetically pleasing structure from many of the other undulating greens on the course. Although the course is a joy to play from start to finish, the 18th stands out. It's a dogleg over a ridge with the second requiring a shot over a lake to the green; a truly "vintage finale" to a top round of golf.

Further details
Ste Foy La Grande: 7 kms along the River Dordogne you will find Ste Foy La Grande, an old bastide town that boasts on of the best Saturday markets in the area. The market takes over the whole of the town square and continues down many of the side streets. The square has a number of cafes and restaurants where you may take a break during your shopping and enjoy a coffee. Within the town are many shops and boutiques. There are two Leclerc supermarkets on the outskirts on the town, one of which is open from 9.00 to 12.00 on a Sunday morning.
Bergerac: 17kms from Le Fleix is Bergerac, also a bestide town but larger than Ste Foy La Grande. The beautiful old town centre has many restaurants, antique shops, the tobacco museum, wine museum and a wealth of historical buildings. From the quayside you may take a boat trip along the river lasting about an hour and returning to the old town. On the outskirts of Bergerac is the main Leclerc supermarket and many other large shops. The airport is also on the outskirts of the town and is just 17minutes from Le Fleix. Cheap flights are available all year with Flybe and Ryan air and now operate from many UK airports. (Cheapest flights are found on the Internet at the beginning of each month.)
St Emilion: Essential for a visit during your holiday, St Emilion is 35 minutes drive and is the most breath-taking old town in the area. Surrounded by vineyards and famous for it's wine, the ancient town's cobbled streets are lined with wine shops where you may taste, buy and visit the vast underground wine cellars and many courtyards and streets filled with art and souvenir shops and restaurants. There is a monolithic church, underground pottery museum and much more. A ride around the town on the train will take you to most of the places of interest and give you a guide to the history of the town. Energetic tourists can climb the king's tower and see for miles out over the town and surrounding countryside.
