This is a comfortable and very well equipped house with a private garden and secluded heated pool. Being only 10 minutes from Carcassonne Airport it is in within easy reach of the sea and the mountains and in the heart of wine making and Cathar country.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible so that you can take advantage of bargain flights. The house will be available from 16.00 and we ask that you vacate by 10.00 on your day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
Strictly no smoking. There is a phone which can be used for incoming and outgoing calls. Cost of calls will be deducted from deposit.
Accessibility
The ground floor bedroom and inside accommodation is suitable for someone with limited mobility, however it is not ideal for a wheelchair because of a step into the house at the front door and out through the conservatory also the bathroom and bedroom have standard width doorways.
Outside
The front garden and driveway provides parking for up to 3 vehicles. The pool measures 8m x 5m and is completely secluded; it is heated and available from May to October. There is a selection of sun beds, chairs and tables for outside use. Standalone charcoal barbecue available. At the back of the house is an orchard with almond, cherry, fig and plum trees. The whole property is fenced and 'childproof'.
Coast/Beach
The house is less than an hour's drive from the Mediterranean. The seaside town of Gruissan boasts unusual houses built on stilts and wonderful freshly cooked fish. Narbonne Plage is a modern resort with its huge beach and broad promenade.
To the East of Narbonne you will find miles of sand beaches.
Close at hand (15 minutes from the house) is the beach at Carcassonne's own lake, Lac Cavayere, which offers water sports and swimming.
Golf
The Carcassonne golf course is 10 minutes drive away and is stunning. You will have your breath taken away by the gradient of the first hole and then by the scenery on the remaining 17! The Mazamet course is equally stunning - approx 50 minutes drive.
Travel
Maquens is 10 mins drive from Carcassonne airport and the A61 Autoroute.
Ryanair flies into Carcassonne from Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool, Dublin, Shannon and Charleroi. For details visit the Ryanair website.
Toulouse, Montpellier, and Perpignan airports are easily accessible with a variety of airlines.
Car hire is available at all these airports, and is highly recommended.
Distances
To the south you have the Pyrenees, with easy access to Andorra, and Spain via local motorways. Many places of interest are easily accessible for day visits such as Limoux, home of beautiful wines; the Black Mountains steeped in Cathar history with the towns of Revel, Sorreze and Saissac; the Canal du Midi with its historical locks and boat trips; Mirepoix with its medieval market square; and the medieval cite of Carcassonne, a world heritage sight.
Further details
Additional activities (for the active!) include: a go-kart track near Carcassonne airport, a high ropes route through the trees provides over an hour of terror near Lac Cavayere, canoeing/kayaking 40 minutes away, caves all over the place!
Booking notes
Prices shown are for the property per week, and include all bed and bathroom linen. A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking with the final balance due 8 weeks before your holiday. A refundable breakage deposit of £250 is also required, which will be returned after inventory and phone bill have been checked.
Guest comments
A well equipped house in a quiet road opposite a small vineyard yet very near to all amenities. The pool area is beautifully landscaped and well sheltered. It is an ideal base for touring the region or for just relaxing. All arrangements with the owner were efficient and we had a wonderful time. We would recommend this rental home and it could easily accommodate a large group in comfort.
