This group of 17th Century stone cottages are set in a peaceful rural location. The properties have their own individual characteristics and are well equipped with modern facilities ( as well as wood-burning fires) to provide an excellent base for either touring Brittany or having a well earned rest. Each of the cottages has it's own outside sitting area, there is also a large orchard. For people who enjoy either a stroll or those who prefer a longer trek there are a few country trails starting within minutes walk of the hamlet. The cottages are a 10 mins drive from the nearby town of Rostrenen where you will find traditional Creperies, good restaurants, quiet bars, shops and 3 supermarkets. There is a bustling market on Tuesday where you can buy local produce or sit outside a cafe and watch the world go by. Whatever your choice I hope you enjoy your stay in this wonderful part of France.

Notes on prices
Excellent value for money. Minimum stay 2 nights. Electric, Gas, Hot Water and logs included in cottage rental price. Extra payment for final cleaning cost - 20 euros Foi and Chance, 35 euros Esprit. Changeover day
Flexible change over days dependant on length of let - minimum 2 nights. Normally arrival time from 3.00pm with departure times at 10.00am, although alternative times will be considered to suit your travel arrangements. Please contact owners.
Notes on accommodation
As well as the wood-burning stoves in the properties there are additional electric radiators in each of the cottages to provide additional heating if required. Some wood for the fires is available free of charge. Electric Blankets are also available on request. There are hair dryers in each of the cottages.
In the kitchen cupboards you will find a selection of basic dry goods which you are free to use if you require them (tea, coffee, sugar, pasta, herbs etc) as well as a small selection of tinned goods.
With the exception of Bonne Foi the cottages have safety gates for the stairs. Bonne Esprit has a cot in the large double bedroom.
Outside
The cottages are surrounded by open countryside. There are outside seating areas with tables and chairs for each of the cottages. BBQ’s are provided. There is a large orchard where children can play. On a clear night the stars are amazing.
For people who like walking as opposed to a stroll, just a few minutes from the cottage are opportunities to start 6k or 15K marked walks. Alternatively you can take a short walk through the pine forest down to the fresh water lakes and enjoy the peace and quiet. There are a selection of bicycles for people to use if they choose to.
Coast/Beach
The nearest North and South coastal beaches are approx 45 mins drive from the cottages. Lac du Guerledan is a 10 mile journey to the east of the cottage with it’s beach, water sport facilities and cafes.
Golf
There is a golf course at Arzano, 3/4 hour away.
Special interest holidays
As the Tour de France starts in Brest this year, Brittany will show it's standing as a cyclist’s paradise with several of the cycling paths or mountain bike routes crossing through the forests and woods or along lakesides.
Brittany is known throughout France for its fishing rivers and lakes. With a third of France's coastline, there is a huge variety of fishing, bays and estuaries to tempt keen anglers. For fishing locally a permit can be bought in Rostrenen and are very inexpensive. They are valid for one day (10€), a fortnight (30€) or a year (68€).
Riding school in nearby village with plenty of trails through local forests.
Canoeing and kayaking are available at nearby Lac de Guerledan and Pontivy areas.
There is a challenging treetops assault course in Carhaix for those with enough energy!
Travel
Dinard and Brest airports are both 1 1/2 hours drive. Cheap flights are available with Flybe to Brest or Rennes and Ryanair to Dinard or Nantes. The ferry ports of Roscoff (1 1/2 hours drive) and St Malo (2 hours drive) are the nearest ports. TGV from Paris to St Brieuc. If you prefer a short sea crossing it takes approx 6 1/2 hours from Calais. Although there are buses from Rostrenen a car is essential for getting out and about from the hamlet.
Distances
These properties are ideally situated for touring the whole region of Brittany, whether your choice is to travel to the miles of coastline or visit some of the larger towns or areas that are mentioned in travel and history books. To anyone visiting this part of France for the first time you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to travel around the 4 departments that make up Brittany.
Further details
The nearest village to the cottage is Mellionnec and here you can get basic groceries from the local shop as well as freshly baked bread from the local baker. There is also a bar and creperie. Rostrenen, which is 5 miles away, has a choice of supermarkets and places to eat. The town has a number of banks and a post office which all have ATM facilities. There is a bustling market on Tuesday where you can buy local produce or sit outside a café and watch the world go by. The unspoilt coast is within easy reach for the beach or exploring quaint coastal villages. Nearby the Nantes Breast Canal flows through the next village and is a perfect place for a walk or bike ride along it's old tow-path.
With beautiful lakes nearby offering water sports and boat hire.
There are a selection of local maps in the cottages which will guide you around either locally or if you travel further afield.

If only staying for 2 nights then full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your stay. For longer breaks a deposit of 25% required to secure booking with remainder payable 6 weeks prior to holiday.
