The property is situated in the centre of a pretty hamlet, near to the church, opposite a bar tabac/restaurant, with a local baker just around the corner. Vire, the well known market town is just 10 minutes drive away. It is a 30 minute drive to the coast where you will find long sandy beaches, and you can take the boat from Granville to the Isles Chaussey. Northwards, is Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches. Mont St Michel, Cancale and St Malo are just an hour's drive away, with beautiful abbeys and gardens along the way. There is an 18 hole golf course at Lac de la Dathee and lovely walks and picnic areas at the small Lac Du Vieux Chateau in nearby St Sever. There are many interesting places for walkers and cyclists along the old railway line and the quiet country lanes. The cottage has a pretty secluded back garden where you can sit and listen to the birds and enjoy the sunshine.

Notes on accommodation
The property is ideal for a couple seeking relaxation and space to chill out. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is a herb garden for those who like cooking. We have raspberries, redcurrants and rhubarb in the garden, in season, so please help yourself. The electric heaters are efficient and we have a wood burning stove for use in cold weather or in the evenings. It is a cosy place all year round. As the garden and courtyard are quite secure, it is also suitable for parents with babies and young children. The bedroom is large with room for a cot. A welcome basket will be provided by Julie and Ellie who live in the village. Otherwise, there is a Bar Tabac with newly refurbished restaurant and shop selling essentials opposite the house and a local baker around the corner. We also have a two bedroomed property in Brouains Normandy FR4276.

Accessibility
The house was built in the late 18th century and the staircase to the bedroom is small and narrow. There are also steps up to the property as you enter the kitchen/lounge from the ground floor. It is not therefore suitable for those with mobility problems or wheelchair users. However, we have had people with young children and there has been no problem with the stairs. Also the garden is very pretty and secure.

Outside
Parking is available in the courtyard in front of the house and also to the rear of the property by the side of the back garden. You can also park in The Barn (garage) which is lockable if you wish. The courtyard is suitable for playing boules. There is a wooden bench and a sun umbrella when the weather is hot. Also a table and two chairs if you wish to have your meal in the back garden. These are stored in The Cave below the house. There are several areas to sit in the garden either in the sun or shade. In the garden you can pick a variety of herbs for cooking, home grown rhubarb and raspberries and redcurrants when in season. There is a small lawn and sunny patio area with climbing roses if you prefer your breakfast or lunch in the garden.

Coast/Beach
The long sandy beaches between Granville and Avranches are just 30 minutes drive away. The longest beach in Europe is Julluloville beach, just south of Granville. You can park and just walk across the road to the sandy beach. Visit the house and beautiful gardens of Christian Dior situated just north of Granville and walk into the old town. From there it is a short drive to Avranches and Mont St Michel. The D-Day Landings and Bayeux to the north are about 50 minutes drive from our house.

Golf
There is a beautiful golf course and club house at Vire La Dathee which is only 10 minutes drive away. This is now a full 18 hole course. Driving range and putting is available and hire of equipment. There is a bar and terrace with lovely views over the course which are open to the public. There are lots of picnic areas and walks around the lake for non players.
