’Mail Arrouy’, the Bearnaise, for Red Mountain, is named for the rugged mountain in the National park behind the farm's 18 acres of private meadow. Wild boar, deer and badgers roam the land amidst ever changing wildflowers, and rare and exotic birds pass the big terrace at eye level! Bring your binocs! Just off the Col de Marie Blanc, well known to cyclists and Tour de France fans, the house overlooks a half dozen farms below, having exceptional mountain views in all directions. While completely private, there are villages nearby where fine local produce can be found in the shops and markets, and local farmers sell their delicious sheeps' and goats' cheeses on the doorstep on the "Route de Fromage". For lovers of outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling, climbing, river sports, riding, fishing or paragliding for the brave, there is no shortage of opportunity. The historic and intriguing city of Oloron is 20 minutes away, with all the facilities you could need.
