This villa offers the best of both worlds as it is set in an extremely large private garden, with secluded terrace and pool but within a few minutes walking distance of two bakeries, village store, bar, tabac and the excellent Chateau restaurant. A comfortable and airy home from home with a large open plan living area which leads onto the poolside terrace which is perfect for alfresco dining and barbequing. Ideally located to take advantage of all the wonderful sites, traditions and activities available in this beautiful area. Only minutes by car from Carcassonne airport and retail area, 40 mins to Narbonne beach or 15 mins to Carcassonne Lake/Beach resort.

Changeover day is usually Saturday with departure times being 10am and arrival times 4pm. However there may be room for flexibility according to bookings.

Notes on accommodation
Tradition French style house. Tiled floor throughout living area. Open fire. Electric heating. Sorry but strictly no smoking inside the property.
This is the first time this house is being made available to rent. It was the home of a young French family up until this year and has recently been refurnished with new furniture and appliances.
Outside
South facing garden (gets the sun all day). Private pool with jacuzzi area. Poolside terrace. Shaded terrace area. Table, chairs, reclining sunbeds. Large stone bbq and assortment of outdoor lighting.
Garden over 130 meters long - assortment of garden games available.
Coast/Beach
Mediterranean beaches easily accessible via A61. Stunning beaches at Narbonne and Gruissan approximately 70 kms away.
Beautiful coastal/seaside resorts worthy of day trips particularly at Collioure or Sete both approximately 1 1/2 hours drive away.
Golf
An 18 hole international standard course is 6km from the villa.
Travel
Carcassonne (Salvaza) airport 3.5kms fly there with Ryanair from various locations.
Toulouse airport approximately 1 hour away - various operators fly into Toulouse including Jet2.
Perpignan and Barcelona airports are also viable.

Further details
Pennautier is a very pretty village with an beautiful Chateau in the style of Versailles. There are a number of wine makers in the village who welcome you for tastings. Communal tennis courts are close to the villa as is the boulodrome where the locals play daily. A large hypermarket is only a few kilometres from the villa (its passed on the way into Pennautier).
Walk from the villa to enjoy an excellent lunch or dinner in the Pennautier Château restaurant. Approximately 18 euros for two courses/ 22 euros for three courses including wine.
All services and amenities can be found in the main Carcassonne town where you can visit the various markets then enjoy lunch in the town square.
A visit to the medieval Carcassonne cite should not be missed.
It remains a bustling town with loads of restaurants and shops and is a designated World Heritage site.
There is an abundance of outdoor activities to be enjoyed including hill walking, canoeing, cycling along the banks of the Canal du Midi or white water rafting.

30% non refundable deposit on reservation, balance 8 weeks before the start of the holiday.
A returnable security deposit of £350 should be sent with the final payment.

We had a great time at the villa. The pool was ideal given the temperatures seemed to be going up to the high 40's. All in all, most enjoyable and I'm missing the fresh bread already!
