La Grange is on the outskirts of Vouvant, sitting in 2 acres of land where we regularly see kestrel's, buzzards, pheasants, hoopoo and many other birds. Guests are welcome to use us as a base to explore the area of Vouvant and the Mervent Forest, or to take a visit to Puy du Fou which is 45 minutes from us. Alternatively you can just laze around by the pool.

Notes on accommodation
All rooms have either tiled or wooden floors and rugs. They all have central heating and most rooms are large enough to take a z-bed for a child. They are all comfortable and well furnished with duvets and good quality linen although sheets and blankets are available on request. Towels are changed daily or on request as per our 'Green policy'.
We offer wi-fi for those wishing to use their computers. Hairdryers are available on request. Continental breakfast is included in the Bed and Breakfast. Price and can be taken outside on the patio if the weather is suitable.
Accessibility
Three of our rooms are on the ground floor, one would be suitable for people with mobility problems. Two rooms are available but there are two steps to negotiate.
Outside
The barn is situated within 2 acres with gravel drive with an old cart feature. We have a large, two tiered, tiled patio that surrounds the 10m x 5m tiled swimming pool plus a Boules area for those in need of exercise! There are sun loungers, outdoor chairs, tables and parasols for our guests use. A new Pergola has been built this year which will eventually give much needed shade on the upper patio. The immediate garden around house and pool has been planted with many plants, whilst the remaining area is grass with young fruit trees and shrubs. Apart from sharing the pool with ourselves, guests have private use. The pool is not heated but is full sunshine all day.
Coast/Beach
We are approximately an hours drive from La Rochelle and
and the Ile de Re. There are many beautiful beaches for you to explore within an hours drive of Vouvant.
Golf
There are at least 3 good golf courses within less than an hours drive from Vouvant.

La Rochelle and Nantes Airports - 1 hour. Poiters - 1.5 hours.
The Brittany Ferries of Roscoff, St. Malo and Caen are approximately 4 hours drive from us. The Channel Tunnel is an easy 6 hour drive on Motorways from Vouvant.

Vouvant - 1 minute drive, 5 minutes walk. Fontenay le Comte with its Saturday market - 15 minutes drive. La Chataignerie - 10 minutes drive. Niort - good shopping and wonderful market - 45 minutes. La Rochelle and Beaches - 1 hour drive
Puy du Fou - 45 minutes drive. La Venise Vert - 35000 hectare tranquil waterways -1 hours drive.

Vouvant is one of the better serviced small villages with a
Boulangerie, mini market, chemist, post office, gift shops, tabac and cafe and 3 restaurants plus its resident painters, hence the recent name Village of Painters.
Vouvant is considered one of the 3 prettiest villages in France and has been awarded the title Petites Cities de caractere (small town of character).
The ancient town was built on a spur with the River Mere meandering slowly beneath it. The old cobbled streets and ramparts are a major feature of this old town plus the 14th C
Romanesque bridge and the Church of Notre Dame built by Abbot Theodelin de Maillezais.
The village of Mervent - 4 kilometres away nestles in 5000 hectares of oaks and chestnuts, shady in the summer and colourful in the Autumn. You can swim, canoe or sail in the lakes of Mervent.
There are three restaurants within walking distance of La Grange, all offering a totally different experience.
