Chez McPhail is ideally situated for a wonderful holiday, property hunting or a short break on the way to Southern France, Spain or Portugal. Poitiers (TGV Station and Airport), Angouleme and Limoges Airports are within easy reach - all have car hire, while La Rochelle on the coast is a little over an hour away. The countryside is made for walking, cycling and birdwatching while those who want more active and adventurous activities won't be disappointed! Locally there are many rivers, lakes and man-made beaches. Culturally there are numerous museums, exhibitions, concerts and 'events' to provide entertainment. The garden offers both shade and light for guests wanting complete relaxation.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. A non refundable deposit of 20% is required upon booking, the balance is to be with us 6 weeks before arrival.
Changeover day
We would prefer changeovers to be Saturday but we can be flexible. Guests may arrive after 4pm and should vacate the cottage by 10:30am.

Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided but we would ask guests to bring their own pool/beach towels. Linen and towels are changed once a week-Washing-up liquid, cleaning materials and Washing liquid are also provided |

In addition to the wood burning stove (wood included) there are 3 oil filled radiators.
Accessibility
Unfortunately Chez McPhail would not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The cottage has a patio with garden furniture, loungers, parasol and 2 BBQs-one charcoal, one gas. The garden has trees and open areas providing shade and light.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic Ocean is just over an hour drive away- La Rochelle, Isle de Re and the Isle d'Oleron are particular favourite places. There are also many man-made beaches, lakes and rivers for visitors to enjoy.
Golf
The nearest golf course is 35 mins away and has 3 nine hole courses.
Travel
We are in an excellent position for road, rail and air links -Poitiers with both Airport and TGV Station is the closest and both are 35 mins drive away. Limoges, Angouleme, Bordeaux and La Rochelle Airports are easy to reach - all have car-hire. The ports of Caen and St Malo are just 4 hours drive away with Boulogne and Calais, around 6 hours drive. To enjoy your stay in the Vienne, a car is required.
Distances
Chaunay is a 15 mins walk and has a small supermarket, 1 restaurant, a bar/tabac, 2 boulangeries, post office and a hairdresser - the market is held on Monday. The villages of Brux and Blanzay both have a bar/restaurant and a small shop and are a 10 mins drive. Markets are held in the towns of Civray and Lezay on Tuesday- all around 15 mins from Chaunay.

There are many attractions within easy reach of Chaunay - the Vallee des Singes, a wonderful monkey sanctuary, the Museum at Rom - local Roman finds, the Musee-Expo at Brux -paintings, sculpture and jewellery, Les Geants du Ciel at Chauvigny - birds from all over the world including flying exhibitions with eagles, falcons, condors and many others, L'Ile aux Serpents at La Trimouille - a rich variety of reptiles in their natural habitats, Parc de la Belle at Magne - beautiful gardens, Futuroscope just north of Poitiers - an amazing futuristic theme park, many ancient churches, abbeys and Chateaux, not forgetting Cognac with its many fine cognac houses.

A 20% non-refundable deposit to be paid at the time of booking and the balance to be paid no later than 6 weeks before the start of your stay.
