Hautefort lies in the Perigord Noir region of the Dordogne in the Aquitaine, South West France. The two gites on a 5 acre fenced park are located in a charming hamlet with panoramic views of Chateau de Hautefort and the countryside. The location offers you the choice of either a quiet holiday or an active one. It is ideally situated for you to explore and discover the countryside with its rolling hills and picturesque villages, to visit world famous castles and caves, stroll through the many renowned landscaped gardens in the area and to enjoy the world famous cuisine of this beautiful region. For an active holiday there is canoeing, golf, walking trails, cycling, horse and pony riding, hot air balloon and more. The tourist office in our village can give you information of all the attractions. The owners are not present when either of the accommodations are rented. However, our caretaker is always at your disposal, 7 days a week, by telephone between 09h00-21h00.

Notes on prices
Prices include: electricity,water,heating,bed linen,towels,kitchen cloths, heated swimming pool.Security deposit of £ 300 and tourist tax not included. 50% of the rental sum to be paid within 1 week after receipt of invoice. Balance of the invoice to be paid seven weeks prior to your arrival.
Unfortunately we do not accept long weekends or mid-week stays; a week starts and ends on Saturdays.
Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival after 6 p.m. and departure before 10 a.m.

Bedroom -can be made up as double or twin-with en-suite bathroom with shower cabin, washbasin & WC, ceiling fan, TV & DVD player. Third bedroom with single bed. Fan, TV & DVD player. Notes on accommodation
Our own website is under construction at the moment.
The bedrooms all have large beds.
Single beds are 80/90cm x 2m. Double beds are 1,60/1,80m x 2m.
Bedding and Towels are provided for each guest and is included in the price.
Kitchen cloths and all necessary housecleaning products and equipment provided free of charge.
The stairs in both the accommodations have a safety gate.
Your day guests/visitors may not stay overnight or use the facilities on the terrain without the express and prior consent beforehand from the caretaker or owner.
The number of guests staying overnight may never exceed the maximum number of persons allowed in the accommodation.
Unfortunately pets, also of your visitors, are not allowed in the accommodations or on the terrain.
Both the accommodations are non-smoking.
We take care that the swimming pool is always pristine and that the water temperature does not drop below 25°C.
Accessibility
Though we have a regular guest that uses a wheelchair who comes to stay in the villa every spring, the villa is not specifically adapted for wheelchair uses. The master bedroom with en-suite bathroom in the villa is suitable for people with mobility difficulties.

Terrain:5 acres park with panoramic view of Chateau de Hautefort & surrounding countryside.Small private woodland,simple gravel tennis court,table tennis table,badminton&volleyball net & petanque pitch.

Fishing and recreational lake at the foot of Hautefort village. Nearby rivers for kayaking and canoeing. Water sports on large recreational lake - 15km. Atlantic coast less than 2 hours drive.

Lots of places to visit and discover in the region also named the Land of the 1000 castles : castles, of course, but also caves, among which the world famous Lascaux caves nearby, museums, markets, gardens and much more.

Large supermarket in the village open 6,5 days of the week, as well as other amenities : bakeries, butcher, restaurants, doctor, dentist, pharmacy, newsagents, garage. Weekly market during the summer months. Tourist Office in the village open 7 days. All weather tennis court in the village. Bikes for rent in our village. Various outdoor activities such as canoeing, horse and pony riding, hang-gliding, paintball, hot air balloon, paintball, fishing, walking trails and various water sports. The nearby Chateau de Hautefort and its splendid gardens and park are also open to the public. More information on cultural activities, sporting activities and places of interest in our village and the surroundings can be obtained from the tourist office in Hautefort.

For the convenience of all our guests, the maximum number of persons we accommodate in the villa are 9 and 6 persons in the cottage when the gites are rented separately. Only when rented by one group can we accommodate up to 18 persons in total.

Architecture, gardens, castles, caves, museums, markets etc.
Our regular summer guests take out options well in advance, usually when they depart at the end of their holiday with us. We would therefor advise that you contact us to find out whether a period is actually available for the months of July and August, or whether the is a tentative option for it. By end January, all tentative and definite bookings will be shown on our calendar once payments have been received for the new season.
Saturdays : The caretaker is always on site on Saturday morning and for those guests who are arriving she will be available from 18h00 till 21h00 to welcome them and handover the house keys and do a house check with them
Wednesdays : The caretaker is on site from 14h00 til
Booking notes
Prices are in UK Pounds. July & August minimum rental of 14 days. To make a reservation we send you a reservation form. Provisional reservations made by email or telephone will be valid for 3 days. Upon receipt of your completed reservation form, we shall send you an invoice. First installment is 50% of the rental amount, the balance and refundable security deposit of £ 300,= to be paid seven weeks prior to your arrival. Security deposit repaid in full if no costs incurred during your stay.

We are a Dutch family. We divide our time between The Netherlands, South Africa and France.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Originally we had decided to buy a place in the Languedoc, but on the way back from there to The Netherlands, we drove through the Dordogne which we had not visited before even though we had been on holiday in France for many years. It was love at first sight. The lush green beauty and serenity of the rolling countryside just decided it for us. Here you have all the comforts of modern life close by, though still maintaining the tranquility of the countryside. The property was bought in 1999 and building started in 2000. The first guests arrived in April 2001, just 8 days after the constructor handed over the keys. Since then many guests have returned, some coming every year, for the same reason we love the place.
Unique benefits of the property
What we like about this property is we can maintain our privacy because of the layout of the buildings and gardens.If staying with other family members in the cottage and in the villa, we can retreat to the privacy of our own garden and home whenever we feel like being alone.We can enjoy all the benefits of family holidays together without the downside of being too close on top of one another. The children loved exploring the little woodland area. A walk to Hautefort by the more enthusiastic among us has also been a source of great fun, setting out our own little mini parcours through the woods passing by the lake and on the way back a refreshment break on a sunny terrace. When the accommodations are rented, the family does not stay, our guests have the park & swimming pool to themselves.
