Lovely cottage-style house standing in its own garden, in a quiet little village. Bricks and half-timbered (creamy white and 'Woodruff' green by the Paint and Paper Library). Sleeps up to 10. In the heart of Normandy's Vexin region, close to a number of interesting sites, including castles, abbeys and gardens. A 10-minute drive to Les Andelys and the chateau Gaillard, built by Richard the Lionheart, or to Lyons La Forêt, a beautifully preserved village founded by William the Conqueror, setting for the movie adaptation of Madame Bovary. A 30-minute drive to Monet's gardens at Giverny, or to the cathedral in Rouen. One-hour to van Gogh's house in Auvers sur Oise, to Paris, or to Dieppe on the coast. Local gardens to visit include the contemporary garden in the Vandrimare chateau and the kitchen garden in Saint Jean de Frenelle. The ruined Abbaye de Mortemer and also the Fontaine Guérard. Beautiful walks in Europe's largest beech forest, Lyons La Foret, two kms away across the fields.

Accessibility

Outside
The house stands in the middle of its garden looking onto the village green, with direct access to its own private orchard. Mesnil Verclives itself is a small village (250 souls) which stands on top of a small hill looking out to the Lyons La Foret beech forest.
Coast/Beach
1 hour's drive to Dieppe on the Normandy Coast.
Golf
Several golf courses within less than an hour's drive (20 minutes to Gaillon, 30 minutes to Gadancourt, 40 minutes to Chaumont en Vexin, 50 minutes to Rouen/Mont Saint Aignan).
Special interest holidays
The Moulin d'Andé (15 mins away by car) provides concerts, master classes and music events all year long.
Travel
40 mins' drive to Paris-Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, 80 mins' drive to Paris central train stations, 30 mins' drive to Rouen.
Distances
Market towns are 10 mins away: Les Andelys and Lyons La Foret. Little supermarket, bakery, grocery store and post office (ATM) are located in Ecouis 2kms down the road.
Further details
5 minutes drive to a riding club in the next village. Beautiful rides in the Lyons-La-Forêt forest. Very good instructors for children (and adults).

For security reasons, we will not rent the property to parties of 9 and more.

It is a lovely hilly area, with a lot of French/British historical sites and remains to discover. It is easy to access from Paris, and yet very authentic and peaceful. A wonderful place where our young daughter and her friends enjoy playing in the garden, walking in the forest, riding, ...
