At the heart of one of the most varied regions of France, it boasts an idyllic hillside location surrounded by fields of sunflowers in summer, set in beautiful landscaped gardens with a large heated swimming pool with sunny terraces. Additionally, as the only property at the end of a quiet country road, it enjoys unrivalled privacy and far reaching views over the local countryside. With 9 luxury en-suite bedrooms, the property can accommodate up to 20 people. As the property is made up of 2 wings – one 5 bedrooms and one 4 – each sleeping 10 people, it can be occupied in its entirety or each wing separately. When let together La Grande Maison has ample space to accommodate the whole group for dining and social activity, yet at the same time provides space and privacy. When taken separately the 2 wings are completely self contained.

Notes on prices
Price includes all linen, towels, pool towels, bath robes for adults, Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries on arrival, pool heating (summer), electricity, cleaning mid week and end of stay. Only extra is heating for off season lets. Catering options also available ranging from fully catered to occasional evening meal.
Outside of July and August the property is available as two separate self contained units as well as a whole. Grande Maison is available week commencing 15 August 3000 euros.

Normally Saturday for peak summer period, flexible at other times.

The accommodation is extremely spacious and is suitable for large groups and family groups alike. There is ample space for the whole group to get together, but at the same time there is plenty of places inside and out for those seeking a bit of peace and quiet. Due to the number of steps and uneven pathways the property is unfortunately not suitable for those requiring wheelchair access.

Spacious well kept gardens surround the property. Three separate terraces. The main terrace can comfortably accommodate the whole group. Two barbecues. Heated pool 12m by 6m. Children's swings.
Coast/Beach
Hour and quarter from Narbonne Plage. Local lakes have beach areas and also have sailing etc.
Golf
Vielle Toulouse 30 minutes - mature hillside course.
Palmola 40 minutes - championship parkland course.
Ramee 40 minutes - probably easiest of the courses.
Seilh 40 minutes - championship course and second shortish course.
Teola 45 minutes - young course but with water interest.
Carcassonne 50 minutes - mature course, lovely views.
Special interest holidays
The following special interest holidays can be arranged - painting holidays with internationally respected tutor, wine tasting, gastronomy and wine.
Travel
35 minutes from Toulouse airport. 50 minutes Carcassonne airport. Car hire recommended although transport can be arranged for groups who wish to stay on site. 1000kms from channel tunnel.
Distances
Villefranche 7kms all services.
Places of interest: Canal Du Midi 10 minutes for walking, cycling and boat rides. Carcassonne 50 minutes Unesco site. Toulouse for history, shopping, Airbus factory, Cite Espace. Medieval towns of Revel, St Felix, Mirepoix other hill top villages all within 30 to 40 minutes. Sailing, pedalos etc 15 minutes. River rafting 30 minutes. Underground caves 40 minutes. Tarzan venture forest 40 minutes.
Further details
Whilst the immediate area is predominately rural, picture fields of sunflowers, rolling hills and plane trees bordering the Canal Du Midi, the traditional market town of Villefranche de Lauragais is only a few kilometres away. There you’ll find all the amenities you could ask for – boulangeries, a weekly market, a wide selection of other shops, restaurants and a good supermarket.
There are also plenty of other country eateries and, for the gourmets among you, Michelin star restaurants in the region. Add to this the host of activities including water sports, horse riding and cycling. And of course there is the rich culture of Cathar castles and abbeys, medieval towns and hilltop villages that are on offer nearby. Whatever you’re looking for we’ve got it covered.
