Sample the gastronomic pleasures and wine tours of the region, soak up the history of the many chateaux and historic venues or we can offer you golf at one of the best courses in France (27 holes) less than 5 mins drive away. There is cycling, walking, riding, canoeing/kayaking or taking a boat trip down the Dordogne River, plenty of things for you to do whilst holidaying here.

Changeover day
Le Petit Pré and Le Pré de l'Aubier are available Sat to Sat with arrival after 5pm and departure at 10am. Bed and breakfast guests are welcome after 5pm on any day and departures before 10am. Shorter stays may be available in Le Petit Pré on request.

Le Petit Pré was designed with the discerning couple in mind. There is a large double height open plan living area with a king size four poster bed and separate shower room upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven, hob, microwave and washing machine. A large dining table easily seats 6 and there is more space for al fresco dining on the outside terrace. The lounge area offers WiFi, UK TV, DVD and HiFi. There is use of a 10x5 swimming pool, although this could be shared with other guests accommodated on a bed and breakfast basis in the main house.

There are 4 Bed and Breakfast or 'chambres d'hotes' bedrooms each of which is en-suite furnished to a high standard and offering views out over open countryside. The ground floor bedroom has a kingsize bed and the three bedrooms on the first floor can be set up as super king or twin sized beds, whichever you prefer. All bedding and towels are the finest egyptian cotton.The ground floor bedroom is suitable for people with reduced mobility, however the house is not suitable for wheelchairs.Breakfast is served either out on the terrace or if it is cool then inside in the dining room. We offer table d'hotes meals every evening, by prior request, four courses made with local seasonal produce and served with local wines for €25 per person.

Le Pré de l'Aubier is a Luxury 4 double bedroom en suite Gite with 10x5 pool Surrounded by open countryside but only 15 mins from Eymet/Duras/Ste Foye la Grande. 27 hole golf course 5 mins away!

 

Notes on accommodation
Surrounded by open fields and standing in grounds of nearly an acre, there is plenty of space for children to enjoy themselves in a safe environment. We are situated 4km from the village of Loubes Bernac where you will find a grocery shop. There are several excellent restaurants in the area, one within walking distance. Described by one of our guests as probably the 'Best meal he has ever had'!
The property is fully centrally heated and has a wood burning stove for the winter months.

Accessibility
The property is equidistant from the towns of Ste Foy la Grande, Eymet and Duras, all 15 minutes drive away. We are 20 minutes from the town of Bergerac and Bergerac Airport and an hour and 10 mins from the fabulous city of Bordeaux. The World Heritage site of St Emillion is 40 kms away.

Outside
The gardens surrounding the property offer nearly an acre of open space. There is a terrace and shady but open dining area, barbecue area and large pool 10m x 5m with Roman steps. You will find plenty of sun loungers and other outside furniture, should you just wish to find a shady corner to relax with a good book.

Coast/Beach
The beautiful beach at Arcachon can be reached in just over an hour and a half by car and is well worth the trip. The Dune du Pilat, the largest of it's kind in Europe is a 'must see' if you are going to the coast.

Golf
We are less than 5 mins drive from the prestigious 27 hole Chateaux des Vigiers golf club.There are several other courses in the area for you to try. There is available a 'Golf Pass' for the Dordogne region which offers discounts on 7 different courses.

Travel
Bergerac airport is 20 minutes drive away. Bordeaux airport is an hour and a quarter. The channel ports are 9 hours drive away, but on easy uncongested roads. If you are driving from Paris you would still need to allow 6 or 7 hours.
Bordeaux is on the French TGV route from Paris.

For Gite self catering guests a welcome pack is provided with wine, tea, coffee, bread, croissants, cheese, jam, fresh fruit and a few other necessities and local specialities.There are so many Chateau based wine producers within a short drive from here that it would be impossible to list them! In addition there are many other activities available according to the season within a reasonable distance from the property - Cycle hire, Canoeing, Kayaking, Ballooning, Horse riding, Tennis, Fishing, Archery, Daily local markets, Excellent shopping in Bergerac and the 'mini Paris' of Bordeaux. The area is a wildlife paradise with frequent sightings of wild deer, hawks etc.

Some years ago, we said that we wanted to live somewhere beautiful – well this is it. Having lived in many different parts of the world, our home is now in this enchanting region of France. We enjoy exploring the area, good food, good wine and good company and welcome guests as friends, hoping that you will share with us, a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Pré de L’Aubier is not a hotel, but our private home which we share with our dog Robbie and Charlie the cat. We will be delighted to share our knowledge of the area, help plan your day trips, organise golf or indeed help wherever we can. In return, we ask that you respect our home and other guests. We operate a non smoking policy.

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
The House and Gite are situated within easy reach of so many wonderful places yet we are situated in a location of great peace and tranquility surrounded by stunning countryside but with all modern conveniences inc WiFi and satellite TV. We are right on the border of the Lot y Garonne/Dordogne/Gironde departments, so all the tourist spots of the regions or the world heritage site of St Emillion are within an easy drive. The local towns of Eymet, Duras, Monsegur and Ste Foy la Grande all have something different to offer. The summer months are packed with numerous things to do. The coast and beaches only about 1 hour 40 minutes shows another side to the region and Bordeaux, is a beautiful, cosmopolitan city.
