Le Château offers you the holiday of freedom and choice. You can stay in one of our gîtes and use the accommodation as a luxury base to return to after spending your days exploring this beautiful area of France. You may wish to cook for yourself some evenings or perhaps you would prefer to dine in our restaurant and sample some typical French cuisine. Alternatively you may wish to take advantage of the on site leisure facilities and arranged excursions or you may just want to relax in the garden by the lake or hide away in our secret garden with a good book and a glass of wine. Le Chateau is situated in a pretty little village called Le Ham which is a beautifully kept little village with a little Tabac. The village is situated on the edge of the Normandy Maine National Park with its array of wildlife, lakes and walking routes. Le Ham is only 4km from the nearest town with shops and markets. New hot tub open from Christmas 2008.

Grandin (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)

A tastefully designed first floor 2 bedroom gite. We feel that this first floor gite is the grandest with its large airy rooms and elevated views over the French countryside. The lounge has a number of restored features including sash windows, cornices and a beautiful ceiling rose. The lounge/dining area - has a window seat for you to relax and lose yourself in the beautiful views. We have also placed a dining suite in front of the large window so you can enjoy the view when you chose to take your meals in your apartment. The lounge has been equipped with a flat screen television, DVD/CD player. Bedroom 1 has a twin bedroom with large sash windows overlooking the open fields and countryside. Bedroom 2 has a double bedroom leading off the first bedroom and again has lovely views. To the back of this bedroom there are 2 small doors which hide behind it a set of bunk beds which are ideal for children. There is a fully equipped kitchen and wooden bathroom with an elevated bath tub. |

Rocher (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5)

Rocher is a characteristic mezzanine first floor 2 bedroom apartment. This first floor Manoir apartment offers 2 tastefully designed bedrooms, 1 triple and 1 double. The lounge area has a number of unique features. The mezzanine floor which is elevated above the lounge has a number of ceiling lights so that the lounge is given a twinkly feel at night. There is a wooden dining table built around the original supporting beam for the mezzanine and here you can sit and look over the front gardens while you enjoy a glass of wine. For your entertainment there is a flat screen television with sky and a CD/DVD player. The apartment has 2 lovely bedrooms. The first bedroom has two single beds made of solid wood and above these beds is a third bunk bed which lies parallel above the bottom 2. The second bedroom can be found on the mezzanine floor which is reached through the stairs that lead up from the lounge. This bedroom has an oak bed and has the feeling of being hidden away. |

Ferandin (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

A luxuriously designed 2 bedroom gite. This ground floor Manoir gite is light and airy and has large sash windows overlooking the grounds and countryside. There is a lovely window seat in the lounge area where you can relax in the sun with a good book and glass of wine. The lounge has been equipped with a flat screen television, DVD player and CD player. The kitchen/dining area - is fully equipped with crockery, glassware, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Appliances include a cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. The kitchen area looks over the front grounds and is a lovely place to prepare and then enjoy a meal. Bedroom 1 has a double bedroom with large sash windows overlooking the open fields and countryside. Bedroom 2 is a twin bedroom leading off the first bedroom and again has lovely views and also a large restored wooden wardrobe and side unit. |

Notes on accommodation
All of the accommodation is suitable for families with small children.
The whole complexes can be rented together for large groups and various gites can be rented in combinations to suit different group sizes.
Accessibility
Le Gite is suitable for wheelchair users. The gite has a large front door and a downstairs double bedroom with wet room which is suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The grounds have a heated shared swimming pool with loungers and chairs around. There is a badminton area and plenty of room for garden games. The second half of the garden has a small lake with surrounding beach area. There is a secret garden in the second half of the grounds which is accessed by a small door and little bridge over the bubbling stream - this is a perfect hideaway area.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is 1.5 hours away by car. There is however a beautiful lake nearby which has a lovely beach area with many activities including boat rides, land train, pedalos, forest walks, cycle hire. Please see our website for further details of Sille Plage (Coco beach).
Golf
The nearest golf course is 30 minutes away at Bagnoles de L'Orne. This is a 9 hole woodland course with several river tracks and ponds (Please see our website for further details). There is a golf course at Laval (40 minutes away). This is an excellent golf course with good greens and some great holes. It is an undulating course. There are also golf courses at Flers (45 minutes away), Vire (55 minutes away), Belleme (1 hour away) and Clecy (1 hour away).
Special interest holidays
We have a number of special interest holidays. These include walking, bird watching, cycling and fishing breaks. We have a special Christmas break on offer for Chrsitmas 08 which icludes a 4 course xmas dinner, drinks and mince pies on xmas eve, full use of the garden hot tub, decorated gite and a bottle of bubbly in your gite on arrival.

Le Chateau is located in a small village with a bar and tabac. The nearest Boulangarie is 1.5km. The nearest town with supermarkets, restaurants and bars is 7km. The nearest large town is Mayenne which is a 20 minute drive away.

At Le Château we have tried to offer something different to the usual gîte holidays that are available over much of France. We have often visited France on our holidays and have stayed in many gites and self catering apartments and although we have always had great fun we have sometimes missed those small luxuries and comforts that are offered with hotel holidays i.e. on site restaurant and bar, tours and excursions, leisure facilities, airport pick up, welcome meetings to help you get to know the area and also someone on hand to provide help and support in case of emergencies or problems.

If you have a young family then this holiday is ideal for you. We have created the complex to ensure it is a safe and entertaining place for the children as we know that if the children enjoy themselves then so do the parents. The on site restaurant is attached to the Manoir and we supply monitors and alarms to the rooms so that the parents can dine in the restaurant/ garden or take a drink in the bar while their little cherubs sleep in their monitored rooms. We have onsite cinema facilities and a separate children’s swimming pool. There is also a library of books and DVDs for you to read and watch in the comfort of your apartment. Also we carry out playtime activities with the children.
