Beautiful Stone House in Picturesque Village Nr. St Emillion / Duras
Officially 'The Smallest Village in France'
Sleeps 8 (4 Bedrooms)

|
This beautiful village house set in a medieval village in the middle of the wine country has been completely re-furbished in 2005. The stone house is over 300 yrs old and still has many of the original period features. The village is officially the smallest village in France and attracts visitors from all over the world. The ramparts and dungeons from the original Castle still remain; if you're nice to the Mayor he can be persuaded to give you a tour. There is virtually no traffic in the village (only the residents) so it is very quiet and very safe. There is a bar/restaurant and chocolatier for bread and daily provisions and 2 supermarkets 10 mins away. Within 20 mins or so there are several towns with markets, bars and restaurants. Lakes for swimming, boating etc can be found in the area and canoeing on the river. 4 golf courses, literally hundreds of wine Chateaus. No visit to the area is complete without a trip to St Emillion. International Jazz festival (July) in Monsegur.
