Hugounenque gite is the west wing of our modern, architect-designed house. It is a wonderfully light, sunny gite with its own private balcony overlooking the 5 x 10 mt salt water swimming pool. Set in 4 1/2 acres of land, bordered by oak and ash trees, it has pleasant, tranquil views across the hills and valley. Ideal for bird watchers, ramblers, cyclists and nature lovers wanting to enjoy the beautiful countryside and charcter of this part of rural France. Good base for visiting the many interesting bastide villages such as Najac, Cordes, Penne and Bruniquel.

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Saturday but can be flexible. Arrival time after 4pm. Check out 10am.

Notes on accommodation
We are on site to carry out the daily chores of pool maintenance and plant watering and to offer any help and advice you may need but we are also respectful of your privacy.
Accessibility
Sadly, not suitable for wheelchairs as there are stairs up to the gite.
Outside
The 5 x 10 mt salt pool is surrounded by garden with a choice of places to sit and relax. Apart from the balcony there is a patio area as well as the pool surrounds. There are a variety of outdoor seating to choose from.
Up the hill is a picnic table with lovely views. Outdoor facilities available: charcoal BBQ, outdoor table-tennis, darts and 1/4 sized snooker table.

There is a golf course near Gaillac (27 miles)
Travel
If flying, car hire is recommended at the airports:
Rodez Airport is 50 miles away (1:15 hrs)
Toulouse Airport is 67 miles away (1:30 hrs)
If driving, we are approx. 570 miles (9-10 hrs) from Boulogne, 30 mins from junction 59 of the A20.
If coming by train, Lexos station is only 6 kms away and is accessed from the main Paris - Toulouse line.
Distances
Our closest village is Verfeil sur Seye which has a bakery selling foodstuffs and papers; bar/restaurant; post-office and a repair garage. The normally sleepy village comes alive during the weekend music festival in August. 4km away is the interesting medieval village of Varen set on the banks of the River Aveyron with pharmacy and other amenities. There are numerous bastide villages to explore within 20 miles and larger towns of Villefranche, Albi, Cahors and Gaillac are all within 40 miles.
Further details
There are a wealth of walking and cyling tracks in the area. Canoes can be hired at St Antonin and Najac. There is a communal tennis court at Verfeil, also a 'boulodrome' for playing the traditional game of petanque. Fishing can be seen at Varen and on the nearby River Seye. Horseriding & donkey walking are also available nearby.
Booking notes
We ask for 50% deposit to be paid by cheque at the time of booking and the balance to be paid on arrival.
