The farmhouse

The rear of the house

The farmhouse has been lovingly restored and is full of character and charm. A large farmhouse kitchen, awesome granite fireplaces, massive oak beams and galleried landings give you a really authentic Breton experience. Outside, the private grounds extend to almost an acre, fantastic space for children to run and play. The views are just stunning. Adjoining the property is our organic small-holding which offers you a chance to see a variety of animals kept in the most humane conditions we can manage. Children always love a chance to ride our little donkey, Eeyore; have a go at milking Alice, our jersey cow; or they might even like to help Mick drive our ancient 1963 Renault tractor (often Dad's do too!!). We have a large organic vegetable garden from which we sell a variety of produce. We also sell our own organic meat, milk, cheese, eggs and even ice-cream. Le Coty is not just a beautiful holiday cottage, its a real 'alternative' experience.

Notes on accommodation
Whilst Le Coty is a fantastic place for children to come on holiday there are a few things which parents should be aware of before booking; the main staircase is spiraled and open-treaded, though it can be sealed off by a door at the bottom and a stair gate at the top; the second staircase is steep but can also be sealed off; there is a lovely pond in the garden, great for pond-dipping, which is protected by a fence all the way around.

Outside
Le Coty is set within half an acre of gardens with fantastic views south down to the river Ellez from the terrace with BBQ, eating area, teak table and chairs, large shade umbrellas.
There's plenty of room for ball games and bikes (of which we have quite a few to borrow, including a baby seat). There is also a set of swings and rope ladders in the playing field. There is also a wooden playhouse/fort and covered area with deck and a large paddling pool, sand pit and slide. There's even a 1948 David Brown tractor to play on. There's a 14' trampoline in the dutch barn and lots of hay-bales to climb on. For the older ones there's even a full size 'half-pipe'.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are only about 40 minutes away. You can chose to go north to the more rugged, wild Pink Granite Coast, great for rock-pooling and walking.
To the south there are the long sandy beaches of Benodet and Concarneau, for those who just want to really relax. To the west is the Crozon peninsular with it's amazingly varied coastline, Pentrez beach is miles long, famous for sand yachting.

Special interest holidays
We can provide hands-on experience of just about every aspect of self-sufficient food production and using natural resources. It's a great opportunity to get an introduction to many different skills without committing to expensive, specialized courses. You could have a go, just watch or not bother at all - it's up to you. Here's just a few examples of what is on offer; making cheese, butter, clotted cream, jam, bread, sausages, bacon and lots more; organic gardening, hay making, butchery and animal husbandry.

Nearest ferry - Roscoff - 1 hour - Brittany Ferries from Plymouth and Cork.
St.Malo port - 2 hour 30mins - Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth.
Nearest airport - Brest - 50 minutes. FlyBe from Exeter, Southampton and Birmingham.
Dinard airport - 2 hour 30 mins. Ryanair from Bristol and Stansted.

Further details
The farm is a 25-acre small-holding, comprised of many small, tree-lined fields, half of which are currently ‘wild-life havens’.
The Ellez river runs to the south of the farm providing many beautiful picnicking and fishing spots. During the summer it’s a slow-flowing, shallow river with a gravel bed ideal for paddling.
