The property, dating from the 14th century has been carefully converted to provide 2 private self-catering holiday homes each with lots of character. It is approached along a blue cedar tree-lined, quiet country lane, which has very little traffic and the extensive garden is surrounded by a high laurel hedge. The heated swimming pool and surrounding terrace with sun loungers and parasols, the games room in a barn at the rear of the property, the gardens with many mature and unusual trees, flower beds and lots of grassy areas for ball games, provide something for all ages. There are benches and seats in sunshine and in shade. We have tried to make both properties very child friendly and have included many things to make the holiday easy and relaxing for the parents of babies and toddlers. Fishermen are not forgotten with private fishing in a nearby lake as well as in the public fishing lake in Firbeix.

Changeover day
The changeover day is generally Saturday but we can be flexible in low and mid season. Arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 10am.

| This holiday home very suitable families with small children as its situation near the children's play area and the fenced pool means that a watchful eye can be kept on them from the comfort of the lounge or whilst relaxing on the private terrace. English Satellite TV and a DVD player as well as a CD player and video are provided. A bunk bedroom has window locks on the large window whilst the smaller window retains its original iron bars. There is a stair gate at the top of the stairs. There are 2 further bedrooms, 1 double and a family bedroom with a double and single bed. The kitchen has a gas range cooker with safety rail, 5 burner gas hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and lots of pots and pans, etc. The bathroom is downstairs, with hand held shower over the bath, handbasin and toilet, and upstairs is a shower room and toilet. | |
Notes on accommodation
Les Glycines is heated by electricity and has a large wood burning stove in the lounge. Les Tilleuls has gas central heating. All wood, gas and electricity are included in the price.
Bedlinen is provided and changed weekly. A generous supply of towels are also provided but not pool towels.
There is a large utility room in Les Glycines with a washing machine, dishwasher a second fridge and a double farmhouse sink. Les Tilleuls has a small utility room with a washing machine and a freezer.
Both properties have cots and high chairs. We also have baby monitors and playpens.
Outside
The 5 acres of garden contain many unusual trees and large grassy areas, providing lots of space for ball games as well as secluded seating in sunshine or in shade for total relaxation. Each property has a large private patio with a BBQ, tables, chairs and lighting. There is a children's play area with sandpit, slide, swings and a picnic table. A range of bikes from very small to adult ones are here for your use. There are badminton, boules and a football net in the garden. The shared heated pool measures 11.5 x 5 metres, is salinated and securely fenced with underwater lighting and its terrace has poolside loungers and parasols as well as poolside illumination. The games room has table tennis, table football, a multi gym, plenty of Lego and children's toys and a computer with Internet access.

A car is essential.
Distances
The village of Firbeix which is within walking distance is very small but has a boulangerie. There are supermarkets, chemists, banks and doctors in both La Coquille and Chalus, both 4 miles away. There are many places of interest in the immediate area catering for all manner of sports, including canoeing, as well as pretty villages, a zoo, chateaux and markets to visit. A sandy beached lake is approx 3 miles away.
The house is equidistant from Limoges and Perigueux, both 30 miles away.
Further details
Restaurants abound to suit all tastes and pockets. Local well stocked supermarkets and smaller shops will provide everything for the most gourmet meal at home. The terraces with barbecues and large tables make al-fresco meals a joy in the shade of the terrace trees.
Booking notes
A booking form is sent by e-mail when requested. The deposit is 10% of the holiday cost and is required to confirm a booking. The balance is payable 6 weeks before the start of the holiday and includes a £50 security deposit which is returned at the end of the holiday. There are no further charges as everything else is included in the price.
