The château provides an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday with its south-facing pool overlooking a secluded valley. It has been divided into 5 separate self-contained apartments, each with its own outside eating area and designed for independent living. The apartments can be rented individually or in any combination for groups. The main apartment has a spacious reception and dining area that is ideal for large parties. The tranquil valley of Bussas offers a perfect retreat. It is in the heart of the Cévennes, an area of unspoilt beauty and outstanding wild life. Walkers and mountain bikers can enjoy the trails through the hills and the majestic scenery stretching towards the Mediterranean to the south and the Massif Central to the north. The resident caretaker and his wife look after the property and guests. They have an organic garden providing fresh vegetables. They can also offer baby-sitting and extra cleaning by arrangement.

The château, dating back to 1197, enjoys its own 200 acres of spectacular scenery. Whilst divided into five individually equipped apartments, the château is ideal for large parties. 'Le Grand Balcon', with its spacious reception and dining area, is ideal hospitality space. In addition, there are numerous outside terraces, south facing pool, games room in a separate building, and a trout stream at the edge of the property. It has previously been used for numerous celebrations including birthdays, family gatherings and weddings.

A very large living room with an open fireplace and an arch leading through to a spacious dining area. French windows to the east and south lead on to a balcony for outside meals.
The main bedroom has an adjoining bathroom and two further bedrooms and a bathroom are accessed from the living room. There is central heating and a wood-burning stove.

Le Four a Pain is a converted bread oven house which adjoins the Chateau. French doors open out onto its own terrace on the ground floor, with a small kitchen/living room. Up a steep wooden staircase lies the large double bedroom and bathroom. There is also a shower/WC on the ground floor.
1 living/kitchen. 1 shower room/WC. 1 bedroom with double bed. 1 bathroom.

Steps from the inner courtyard lead to a large living room with a corner kitchen. French windows provide immediate access to an outside eating area and to the terraces above the pool. The bathroom is in the tower adjoining the living room. An open stairway leads up to a spacious bedroom. There is an additional small bedroom in the tower accessed through a low doorway.

The château is centrally heated. Wood is supplied for the large open fireplace.
Local catering firms can supply meals by arrangement.

Accessibility
Built into the hillside, the château has lots of terraces and steps, so is not ideal for wheelchair users.

Nearest village: l'Estrechure, 3 km (a pleasant walk along the River Gardon).
Nearest town: St Jean du Gard, 7 km.
Day expeditions can easily be made to historic and cultural centres such as Montpellier, Nîmes, Arles, Uzès and Avignon; also to the Camargue and the Mediterranean.

Nearest boulangerie, bar and restaurant in l'Estrechure (7 mins).
Main shops, supermarket, doctors, banks, dentists in St Jean du Gard (10 mins). The local market is on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
A wide range of restaurants to suit all budgets is available within the area.

Booking notes
A deposit at time of booking is required for each week of letting.
The final payment together with the refundable breakages/cleaning deposit is due 8 weeks before the letting.
If the full payment is not received by the due date, the company may cancel the reservation.
