Imagine the gently sloping rim of a shallow tea cup saucer. This 1830s renovated stone barn, a 5 minute walk to the Dordogne River, sits on the edge of that rim, oriented south/southwest, a large entry courtyard, overlooking a hidden garden, with views over its own little valley. Along the south side of the entire length of the building (72 feet), French doors and large windows flood the rooms with light throughout the day. The intimate valley, over 13 rolling acres, looks across to an abandoned farm, where sheep still graze daily. Silence, sunlight, and incredible starry nights are pretty much your only neighbours. Not a typical renovation (which often chops up the rhythm of a space to maximize the number of bedrooms), this property was designed with great care and planning to preserve its architectural authenticity, integrity and flow. The high ceiling (25+ ft) timber framed spaces naturally dictate how the room arrangements flow. Especially gorgeous during the off seasons. Heaven!

Guest comments
I thought this had to be one of the prettiest spots on earth. Inside the house things got even better, and the romance of this place has to be seen to be believed.

As you go upstairs to bed in your cosy loft room. you have a
spectacular view of the hills. The bathrooms are unique and light, but it is the living spaces that are truly spectacular.

There is no skimping on space and, where other rooms could have been created to sleep more people, the owner has instead kept the length and height. The feel of the big barn in the Dordogne with its huge fireplace remains entirely in tact. A kitchen/dining room is the ultimate farmhouse kitchen opening out on to the terrace with its wonderful sunset views.

It is clear that this place has been renovated by a designer who loves it. It is infused with her knowledge, respect passion and knowledge. I would definitely recommend this magical spot to anyone who asks.

Perfect and private for 2 couples traveling together.
