Moulin de Begasse is an ancient, restored water mill situated on a 5-acre lake in a beautiful, secluded setting. The extensive grounds include a heated indoor swimming pool, and gardens with timber decks over the water for fishing, boating or relaxing in the sun. This tranquil location is a haven for all kinds of bird and animal life - a perfect holiday retreat. There are 3 properties to let, separately or together, including the main mill house (Maison du Lac) which sleeps up to seven guests in three bedrooms (and large landing). The other two properties can accommodate five and 2 respectively (see details below). All have central heating and open fires, private patios and access to the lake with use of all facilities, including rowing boats and swimming pool. Bed linen included (guests need to bring towels).

Notes on accommodation
Other facilities available include a games room with table tennis and dartboard (sorry, no darts provided); washing machine; clothes airers; iron and board; barbecues. Travel cots and highchairs available upon request.
A returnable security deposit will be required upon any booking.
Swimming pool heating is normally included in the lettings of all properties from April to October. Outside of these dates it may be possible to heat the pool. Please contact the owners to enquire about the cost.

Outside
The Maison du Lac and Studio du Lac have their own terraces overlooking the magnificent private lake with its island. The Gite is nearby with an enclosed garden area and easy access to the lake. Rowing boats are available for exploring, fishing or just relaxing on the water. Or if you prefer, sunbathe on one of the timber decks over the water.
The heated swimming pool is 10m by 5m surrounded by timber decking and enclosed in its own glass house within the gardens of the property. The extensive gardens are enclosed by the millstreams which provide the power for the enormous mill wheel which turns at the side of the old mill.
A large car parking area provides ample parking.

Coast/Beach
30 minutes drive to a variety of beaches.
Along the southern coast there are numerous beaches with sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, swimming, sea fishing.

Golf
Various golf courses within a ten mile radius.

Travel
Moulin Begasse is 90 minutes drive from the port of Roscoff on Brittany's north coast and 30 minutes from the southern port of Lorient.
The ferry port of St Malo is approximately 2 hours drive. Nantes airport is also about two hours drive with carriers flying from the UK and Ireland. Ferry companies operating from the UK to Brittany are shown below.
We do not have any discount arrangements with ferry companies but the following web addresses may be helpful.

Distances
The small town of Le Faouet is 2km away with its famous timber-framed market hall. It has a good number of restaurants and a large supermarket.

Nearest large towns: Quimperle (20-minutes away); Lorient (30-minutes away); Hennebout (25-minutes away); Quiberon; and Carnac.

Further details
A perfect holiday retreat in a beautiful location, Moulin de Begasse is situated in a picturesque woodland area with streams and rivers running down to Brittany's south coast, sandy beaches are just a 30-minute drive away. The region and its towns are rich in history; towns such as Le Faouët, with shops, banks and weekly market; or Quimperle (20-minutes drive), a picturesque medieval town built on two rivers and traversed by many bridges.

Other fascinating towns include Lorient (a 30-minute drive from Moulin de Begasse) which is built around a natural, harbour estuary. The town has a 10-day festival every August. Inland and upstream is Hennebout, an old, walled town with beautiful, open views of the Blavet River. To the south-east of Lorient is the Cote Sauvage, with the warmest bathing in Brittany. Other possible seaside excursions include a trip to Quiberon, a popular island resort joined to the mainland by a strip of sand.
