The region offers a delightful combination of magnificent rivers, rolling hills, sunflowers, orchards, vineyards and forest. Moissac in the Tarn-et-Garonne is famous for its Romanesque abbey and cloister. Close by are the rosy pink cities of Toulouse, Montauban and Albi. This is the 'land of the bastides' - the medieval villages which are an outstanding feature of south-west France. Lauzerte, Auvillar, Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Cordes, Bruniquel and St. Antonin-Noble-Val are all within easy reach. To the west are Bordeaux and its famous vineyards and to the east the vineyards of Gaillac. To the south lie Gascony and, beyond, the mountains of the Pyrénées. Much of the furniture is in the traditional French style, with antique wardrobes and some wide single antique beds (although the mattresses are new). The kitchen is very well equipped and there is Freesat TV and a DVD player, a stereo system with CD player, a snooker table, books and board and card games.

Bedlinen and bath and hand towels are included in the rental and the farmhouse is cleaned between lettings. Please note that swimming towels are not provided. A welcome pack, breakfast and extra cleaning are all available on request.

Notes on accommodation
The farmhouse is suitable for children. Please note: there are some low beams in 2 of the bedrooms upstairs which are more suitable for small children. There is parking space for 8 cars in the circular drive at the front of the house. Central heating is available on request.

Accessibility
The farmhouse is suitable for people with limited mobility but has not been specially adapted for wheelchair users.

Outside
At the back of the house there is a large, secluded and partially covered terrace which overlooks lovely countryside. It leads to the private pool which is 12 x 6m with roman steps and a security fence. The terrace is equipped with a dining table which seats 12, a barbecue, loungers, a drinks fridge, table tennis table and boules. The gardens and meadows are extensive and offer complete privacy.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is about 140 miles (220km) away at Narbonne on the Mediterranean coast (approximately 2½ hours drive).

Golf
There are two 9 hole golf courses nearby. One is at Roucous, near Castelnau-Montratier and the other at Espalais, near Auvillar. Both are about 30 minutes drive.

Travel
Blagnac airport at Toulouse is 52 miles (84km) from the farmhouse (approximately 50 minutes drive). Calais is 584 miles (942km) drive (approximately 10 hours). Boulogne is 562 miles (907km) drive (approximately 9½ hours). The use or hire of a car is essential.

Distances
The local village of Durfort Lacapelette is 2 miles (3km) from the farmhouse and Moissac is 5 miles (8km). Montauban is 17 miles (28km) and is approximately 30 minutes drive.

Further details
On the route to St Jacques de Compostelle, Moissac is a charming market town with some good food shops, restaurants and cafes (and not many tourists). Market days are Saturday and Sunday. It also has a good selection of boulangeries, supermarkets and banks. Through Moissac flow both the river Tarn and the Canal du Midi. In the summer, there is water skiing on the river and boats and bikes can be hired for trips along the Canal. There is a cycle route along the Canal (the 'vélo voie verte du Canal des Deux Mers').
Close by is the lake at St Nicolas-de-la-Grave where there is canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding. Bikes can be hired in Moissac and there is also horse riding at Lauzerte. For children there is a water park (Walibi) near Agen. Durfort Lacapelette has a boulangerie, a small supermarket and a tennis court.

Booking notes
A booking deposit of 25% of the rental is required and the balance is payable 8 weeks before the holiday is taken. A refundable damage deposit of 400 euros / £300 is also payable.

"What a lovely spot – so peaceful and private yet close to the beautiful town of Moissac. The house is brilliant, lots of space and nice bedrooms and the terrace and pool are fabulous. Very well equipped for large parties – you’ve thought of everything!"
"We stayed for 14 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The pool is a fabulous size with ample room for sunbeds and chairs for 12. The shaded terrace is the perfect accompaniment and gives the perfect place for meals. Everything is on site - BBQ, external beer/wine fridge, table tennis (great fun) and the music system gave us our own soundtrack. The house itself is ideal and big enough to give privacy. The upstairs is better for kids and the kitchen is comfortably big enough to prepare a good size meal for 12 people. We loved the villa and would recommend it to families who like a peaceful rural environment."
