Really enjoyed our week here, it's a wonderful cottage in beautiful surroundings. Felt very at home, the kitchen is excellent and we spent the week eating a lot and drinking wine on the terrace.

A great week exploring a new area of France; the drive to Perypertuse through the stunningly beautiful Gorge de Galamus- WOW
Sitting on the terrace one evening I saw my first shooting star along with a whole array of stars, planets and even the milky way. It was so clear you felt you could reach out and touch it.
A lovely week

Owner profile
About the owner
I am self employed and life in London can get quite hectic, so I love the chance to enjoy a different pace of life. The gorgeous countryside, local events and the relative quiet I find when I visit my cottage helps restore the batteries!
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I bought my house because I was looking for a retreat somewhere, a place where I could unwind from hectic London life. The village is so pretty and the surrounding countryside so beautiful, I feel very lucky to have found it. There are so many things to do.There are numerous footpaths to explore, many a day can be spent hiking locally with a packed lunch! Also nearby are colourful markets, ancient Cathar sites not to mention the mysteries surrounding the church at Renne's le Chateau. In the summer months there are music events, village fêtes and film festivals to look out for. Unwinding and sampling the great local wines and produce while relaxing on the terrace is how I spend a lot of my time there! Exploring French life is great fun and the pace of life in the country is lovely.
Unique benefits of the property
The airport is only 50 minutes away and the Ryanair flight gets me to the house in the early afternoon. I sometimes get a treatment at the natural hot spring health spa in Rennes les Bains during my stay. They have a swimming pool which is filled with warm spring water and is a nice alternative to the local lakes and rivers - The hot spring actually pours out into the river and its healing properties can be enjoyed by all! The coast is an hour and a half's drive and makes a great day out. There are numerous books and films at the house and the quiet that descends as evening comes in is quite remarkable. You rarely see the night sky in all it's glory if you live in a busy city and spending a few hours on the terrace with a glass of wine looking at the stars is a lovely way to relax.
