Les Hirondelles is a 19th century maison de mâitre set within luscious and pretty scenery with views of vineyards and rolling fields. The house provides a tranquil, relaxing base for your holiday as well as an ideal location from which to explore countryside, markets, numerous Bastide towns and historic chateaux. Wine lovers will be able to enjoy the small independent wine producers (caves) nearby, and the more famous wine producing estates which surround the historic towns of Saint Emilion (35 mins), and Sancerre (30 mins) while lovers of culture and fashion can enjoy the vibrant city of Bordeaux, which is within easy travelling distance (1 hour). The house is a welcoming and comfortable generously proportioned home, with many original features; such as beamed ceilings, open fireplaces and antique tiled and wooden flooring. The large saltwater pool is surrounded by large lawn dotted with ornamental shrubs, roses and numerous fruit trees.

| Other: | French doors from the kitchen open to the front garden and lead to an outside eating area set beneath a large maple tree that affords shade in the heat of the day and a delightful venue for candlelit diners in the cool of the evening. |

Outside
The large private (10m x 5m) saltwater pool is located at the back of the property, it is bordered by a security fence, which can be removed when the poolside alarm system is activated in accordance with the instructions provided. The pool is surrounded by a large lawn dotted with ornamental shrubs, rose flower beds and numerous fruit trees such as fig, cherry, apple, pear and peach together with a mulberry and walnut tree. Poolside shade is under trees and parasols, poolside furniture is available. A rose hedge surrounds most of the back garden.
To the front of the house is a small quiet country lane across which is a wooded petit parc, which also belongs to the house. From here you get lovely views across the valley and to the vineyards in the distance.
Coast/Beach
The dunes of Arcachon are around 2 hours away by car.
Golf
There is a golf course approximately 7km away.
Travel
Bordeaux airport is an hour away by car; Bergerac airport is 1 hour 15 mins by car. Bordeaux train station is an alternative and where connections to Langon and La Reole (15 mins from the house) can be easily made. However car hire is recommended and is easily available from either Bordeaux or Bergerac.
Distances
We are close to the vineyards of St. Emilion (35 mins) and Sauternes (30 mins). There is much to do locally such as visiting the medieval towns of La Reole (10 mins), Sauveterre-de-Guyenne (15 mins), Monsegur (25 mins) and Duras (30 mins), the nearby chateaux of Malle (near Sauternes), Cadillac and Malrome (a connection to Toulouse-Lautrec), and discovering historic churches, abbeys (La Sauve) and ancient mills (Loubens).
Further details
The nearest supermarkets are in Sauveterre and La Reole (10-15 mins drive away) and restaurants abound in the local villages and towns, where it is easy to find anything ranging from haute cuisine to good country meals, all very well priced.
