Our holiday cottages or gites, as they are known in France, are situated in Charente-Maritime, one of the loveliest and sunniest parts of France. To the west are the beautiful sandy beaches of Royan, the stunning old port of La Rochelle and the breathtaking Ile de Ré. To the south are the historic riverside towns of Cognac and Saintes, with charming cobbled streets and world-famous food and drink. To the north is St Jean d’Angély, boasting an incredible Royal Abbey, huge colourful market, restaurants, pool complex and river sports. We have a large salt water pool, huge gardens and woodland for you to enjoy as well as a playground, toys and games to keep children happy. You can relax in the grounds or take advantage of the many activities, sports, attractions, history and food and drink this region has to offer. Changeover day
In peak season the changeover day is normally Saturday and we normally require a week-long booking but we are flexible so please ask. Out of peak season we are very flexible.

This exceptionally large gite is arranged on a single level and has high ceilings and exposed beams. Large sitting room/kitchen diner. Main bedroom with double bed. Second bedroom with two singles. Two modern bathrooms with bath and shower. Modern fully fitted kitchen including washing machine/dining area and sitting room. Satellite TV and a DVD player are included and a double sofa bed in the lounge. The gite overlooks the courtyard and open fields. La Citronnelle (Sleeps 4. 2 Bedrooms)

This glass-fronted gite is arranged over one floor and has partially exposed brickwork. As a former artist's studio it enjoys fantastic light and a very high-ceiling which adds to the sense of space. Sitting room/kitchen diner with satellite TV and a DVD player. Main bedroom with double bed. Second bedroom with two singles. Modern bathroom with shower. Modern fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave. It overlooks the courtyard and outside is a patio area with garden furniture, sun loungers and a BBQ. This light and spacious gite is arranged over one floor and has views of the pool, countryside and courtyard. It has a modern kitchen and bathroom and includes a washing machine. Notes on accommodation
All gites have electric heaters for winter lets. All gites are on one level except La Lavande which has a mezzanine bedroom level with a double bed and a safety gate is provided to make this property safe for young children. We have lots of storage space if you choose to bring bikes, golf clubs, fishing equipment or surf boards etc. We have a DVD, video, books and games library which all guests are welcome to use. Linen and bath towels included. Cots are free (please ask). No smoking or pets.
Accessibility
All gites are on one level except La Lavande which has a mezzanine bedroom level. La Vanille and La Citronnelle would be best suited to guests with mobility issues but please contact us to discuss requirements. The courtyard is flat as is most of the land and vehicle access to the gites is good.
Outside
The shared large salt-water pool is 11x5.5m and has a solar cover which keeps the water warm. It is surrounded by a patio area with sun loungers and hammocks for guests. We also have inflatables and arm bands and swimming jackets for children. There are over seven acres of land, a small wooded area and a separate forest. In the back field we sometimes keep 3 beautiful horses. They are securely fenced off but guests are welcome to visit them and feed them some apples from the trees. We have play areas for children (and adults) with sandpits, a huge trampoline, slide, see-saw, scooters, football goal, basketball nets, tennis and badminton rackets, frisbee etc. Golfers are welcome to practice their driving on the land (so long as you point away from the pool) and we can set up a pin if it helps. If you are a cyclist we are happy to explain routes and store your bikes or you can borrow one of ours. We are also happy to organise BBQ lunches and evenings should you want it.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are 35 mins drive away. The beaches between Royan and Meschers are the best if you want golden sand and a new motorway is due to be open from Saintes making them quicker to reach. Ile d'Oleron are the best beaches for wind and kite surfing. La Rochelle is a stunning port town and lovely to visit day or night. It is about 45 mins drive.
Golf
Saintes golf course 10 mins drive from Mirabelle gites is the lush 18 - hole par 68 course spread over 4,970 metres. It even has some Roman ruins alongside the fairways and spectacular views of Saintes. There is a clubhouse with bar and restaurant, equipment hire and pro-shop. Green fees are Euros 25-35 approx.
Cognac golf course 35 min drive away. This 18- hole course, located on by the river Charente, is spread over 6,148 metres and set in the beautiful vineyards and woodland surrounding Cognac. It has a clubhouse with bar and restaurant as well as a pro-shop and equipment hire.
We can organise golf packages for groups or societies including transport, green fees, food and drink. Please contact us for details.

La Rochelle airport is 45-50 mins drive. Poitiers airport is 50-55 mins drive. Calais port is about 6 hours drive. Please see the 'Find us' section on our website for full details.

St Jean D'Angely is a 5 min drive. Saintes is a 15 min drive. Cognac is a 25 min drive. Royan and La Rochelle are a 45 min drive. Bordeaux is a 75 mine drive. Please see our website for full details.
Further details
The local village, Asnieres La Giraud (800m) has a restaurant, bakers, butchers, general shop, post office, hair dressers and very interesting bric a brac store. St Hilaire Villefranche (2km) has similar but also has a bank, train station and oyster sellers (Sunday’s). St Jean D'Angely has every facility including large supermarkets. Saintes is even larger and again has everything. Please see our website for full details of 'Things to see and do'.
