Notes on accommodation
Les Oisons and Le Papillon are available for holidays either together or separately. We would recommend Oisons as suitable for a family or group of friends and Papillon is ideal for a couple. The mezzanine area in Papillon is very robust, however as this is reached by a narrow staircase (with rails) we recommend that it is suitable for children from about 8 years old. For 'winter' holidays we recommend Oisons which has a wood burning stove. Between October and end of April there is an additional cost of £25 per week for heating.

Accessibility
In Oisons both bathrooms are on the ground floor and next to the ground floor bedrooms. Access is very good, there are a few steps leading to the property. In Papillon there is one step to the master bedroom and the garden is accessed by a staircase. For further information on access please contact Avril directly.

Outside
Both properties are detached and have their own garden and BBQ areas. Each has outside dining furniture. The pool is 5x10m in length and 1.2-1.5m deep, it is alarmed and complies with French law. The pool is 'open' from April to October. Table tennis, lawn badminton and boules available for all guests. The properties are reached from a side road well away from any traffic (of which there is very little) and there are many walks and paths suitable for cycling.

Coast/Beach
There is a very good sandy beach at La Jemaye (20 mins drive) this is set in a natural habitat within woodlands. In the summer life guards are on duty and there are specially supervised swimming areas. other facilities include, picnic benches, pedalos, children’s play ground and cafes. Local man made beack at Lisle (10 mins) away. The famous coastal resort of La Rochelle is worth a visit (2 hours plus drive) but a very vibrant and colourful place.

'Amidst the frantic pace & pressure of modern life, occasionally there appears a beacon of tranquility & calm when it's least expected. Living at Les Oisons for the past two weeks has been such a time with only the birds, the breeze the sun & peaceful solitutude that an oasis like this can bring. We have had the most wonderful time here enjoying the quiet, activity in the pool & visits to many wonderful towns & villages, caves, restaurants & markets in the area. Thanks Avril and Steve for letting us share their outstanding home & location, the perfect venue for a perfect holiday, we will return to enjoy this wonderfully relaxing location again'. We had an enjoyable afternoon canoeing down the Dronne - beautiful scenery lots of old mills and weirs. Riberac market on a Friday is good, busy & colorful. Why the owner chose a home in this location
On first visiting this area of France we immediately fell in love with it. It's location makes it very accessible from the UK & many parts of Europe. The area is a wonderful mix of rolling hills, winding rivers & extensive countryside views. It is a great spot to explore the many varied historic & cultural sites including a range of caves, chateaux, vineyards & picture perfect villages. Our property is in the countryside which provides a haven of tranquility ideal for relaxation & yet is close to many towns such as Riberac with it's shops, cafes, bars & restaurants including the famous Friday market. The area offers a delightful array of the sights, smells & tastes you expect to find in France. It is an ideal holiday destination for couples & families with children.

Unique benefits of the property
We love the sense of peace & tranquility at Le Guichard. Our favourite spots are on the terrace by the pool & in the hammock under the tree (great spot to take your book). We also love the walk across the fields to the village of Grand Brassac where we enjoy a cold drink in the very authentic tabac. Our favourite past times here include the many outdoor music events & fetes in the summer & savouring the 'menu de jour' on offer at cafes frequented by the locals. If we feel more energetic there are many places to cycle, take a canoe trip down the river or meander round colourful markets being tempted by local produce. When our nephews visit we pop over to the lake at La Jemaye or the man made beach at Lisle. We round off the day star gazing & wonder at the milky way!
