The apartment is comfortably furnished and adjoins the villa of the owners, Sue and Bill, who will be only too happy to help you make the most of your stay. The apartment is on the ground floor and has its own private entrance and parking. The house stands quietly on the outskirts of a small village and enjoys splendid views from the terrace over the garden and pool across open countryside towards the magnificent Mount Canigou which is the heart of the Pyreneese. The peak of Mount Canigou is 9289 feet (2784 metres)high, proud and magestic. Step out from the front door and you are immediately in wonderful walking country, whereas coastal walks, beaches, water sports, fishing ports are only an hour away. The weekly market in Prades is a magnet for locals and holiday makers, offering fresh produce, hand made cheeses, flower stalls and much more, a great shopping experience in classic French style. Open air cafes and restaurants are also a feature of our local town.

Notes on accommodation
Molitg les Bains is village of 2 parts, as you approach it is impossible to miss the splendid Grand Thermal Hotel which dominates the deep gorge cut by swift running water of the Castellane River. The village surrounds the Church and square and by wondeful countryside and amazing views. As one guest said there is a wow around every corner. Prades (10 min drive) is surrounded by orchards, when the fruit trees are in bloom the colours are spectacular. It is also a good starting point for excursions. Film fans will love the film festival (3rd week in July). The Pablo Casals festival (end of July for 3 weeks). The Tuesday market is a great shopping experience in true classic French stlye.
Take the little yellow train from Villefranche-de-Confluent to Latour-de-Carol. Built in the early1900 it is a pleasure to discover breathtaking scenery and the fantastic bridges of Sejourne and Gisclad. Wine tasting is a must, as are the local fetes, there is one to celebrate almost everything.

Accessibility
Accommodation is at ground floor level. There is one step into the property and one onto your terrace. The garden is flat with one higher area to the rear, six steps up, where a different view can be experienced.

Outside
Private terrace with table and chairs. BBQ, sun loungers, and electricity point. Walk from your terrace to the pool (10 x 5 metres shared with the owners) one step onto the pool terrace where you can relax on wooden loungers and glance at the view and look out for visiting birds, it is not unusual to see eagles, vultures, hoopoo's golden oriels and more. The village has a small epicerie and one bar restaurant, whilst the Thermal area has 4 restaurants all serving drinks and meals, great places to stop after a good walk or after a day relaxing by the pool.

Coast/Beach
There is a wide choice of beaches and ports, the nearest being about 1 hour's drive away. Collioure is a delightful little resort nestling in a bay beside the Mediterranean. It has always lived from fishing the anchovy being it's main catch, a few small companies still operate. The picturesque landscape inspired many artists including Natisse and Derain, Charles Remie Mackintosh lived along the coast at Port Vendre which is alively fishing village, with great restaurants lineing the port.

Golf
3 golf courses each about an hour's drive away. St. Cyprien is a coastal championship course with 18 and 9-hole courses. Font Romeu is a 9-hole course at appox 1800m high in the Pyrenees. Montescott with 9 hole course and new club house.

Skiing
There are several resorts about 1 hour's drive away at Font Romeu, Les Angles etc. At about 2 hour's drive there are the resorts in the region of Andorra.

Special interest holidays
We can arrange cookery and painting courses, these are run by an English lady and a French and English qualified cookery turour. Wine tasting, pop into a local vineyard or we can book a tour with a talk by the owner/wine maker followed by a visit to his historic vinery to learn how good wine is made followed by a tutured wine tasting and if requested lunch. Guided walks.

Travel
By air: Perpignan, 45 mins. Gerona (Spain), 1 hour 30 mins. Montpellier, 2 hours. Carcassonne, 2 hours 30 mins. Toulouse 3 hours. By rail: Perpignan, 45 mins. Car recommended.

Distances
3 mins walk to the village of Molitg. The epicerie and a bar restaurant. 5 mins walk to the Grand Thermal Hotel. 4 bar/restaurants within 5 minutes' walk.
10 mins drive to the local supermarket, and to Prades, the local market town.
45 mins drive to Perpignan. 2 hour 30 mins to Barcelona. Collioure 1 hr 15 min
Villefranch-de-Confluent 15 min. The Spanish coast 1hr 30min. Wonderful beach of Canet-Plage 50 min. Ceret the home of the cherry 1hr 15min
The Canaldu midi 2 hrs.

Further details
Many interesting and panoramic walks for all levels from your own front door. In the immediate area there are historical towns, abbeys, thermal baths, fishing, cycling, horse riding, tennis and local markets. From nearby Villefranche you can take the "Little Yellow Train" through the wonderful scenery of the Pyrenees as far as Latour de Carol.

About the owner
Whilst holidaying in 2004 we found our plot of land and fell in love with our dream location. Employing a local architect we spent the next year designing our new home, we retired early (Bill an engineer and Sue a retailer) in 2005. and took up residence in August 2006. Since then we have been laying the driveway and paths and planning and planting the garden. Enjoying owning a pool for the first time and living in a unique house.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We love the peace and quiet of this area the simplicity of its people and way of life. Our village ticked all our boxes, beautiful views, close to the sea and to sking and golf, good lines of transport, there is lots to do and a great local community. We've even learned to dance! A place to really unwind and relax.

Unique benefits of the property
We are in a peaceful area. The pool is fantastic and very well kept by Bill, along with his grass its his pride and joy. We provide all your linen, which is changed weekly. Local cuisine is wonderful. One of our local restaurants provides a unique plate de jour (15 euros) which is not to be missed. Everyone enjoys Sue's welcome pack.
