The property is ideal for children as it lies on a no through road - it also has the benefit of a large garden with swings and a slide. There is central heating should it be necessary.
Accessibility
There is a downstairs bedroom with twin beds and with an en suite shower room, basin and toilet. There are grip handles by the toilet and in the shower. There is a sturdy plastic stool which can be used for sitting in the shower. However one has to step into the shower over a ridge about 6 inches high. Although there is a step down into the barn through the front door, there are two ramps available down which a wheelchair can enter. Once inside, the ground floor is on one level.
Outside
From the barn there are two doors leading to the magnificent walled courtyard which has been tiled in a mixture of coloured tiles to create a Mediterranean feel. There is a stone built barbecue and the courtyard is completely lit for late night wining and dining. The whole area is enclosed, very private and sheltered. Steps from here lead to the pool area where you will find the swimming pool, 4x10m, with roman steps allowing easy and safe entry. Around the swimming pool is a large terrace with sun loungers and a dining table and chairs. This area overlooks the large, mainly grassed, garden. There is plenty of parking at the front of the barn.
Coast/Beach
This area in the Dordogne is not coastal but the beaches on the Atlantic coast, including the famous Dune de Pyla at Arcachon, can be reached in under two hours. Locally there is the Lac de Gurcon which has sandy shores and a large lake suitable for swimming. There are bars, a waterslide and pedallos.
Golf
There is golf nearby at Chateau de Vigiers.

Further details
Le Grand Bost is just outside the village of Montazeau which has a very good restaurant and a 'vente directe' chateau. There are dozens of 'vente directe' wine producers in the region and wine tastings can be arranged. The nearest village for bread and emergency supplies is five minutes by car, and has several shops including a pharmacy, two restaurants and a doctor's surgery. Supermarket shopping is 15 minutes away.
The Dordogne is a beautiful part of southwest France with a very good climate. Within short drives there is the city of Bordeaux, the beautiful and historic town of St Emilion, the very picturesque town of Brantome, Duras with its castle, Bergerac with its quaint old town and many more wonderful places to visit. If, like us, you enjoy food and wine you will be in heaven. For the more energetic there are countryside walks, cycling (we can arrange cycle hire), canoeing on the river, golf close by, horseriding, and caves at Sarlat. Montazeau has a tennis court for hire. Nearby Lac de Gurson has proved popular with families and offers lake swimming, pedallos, sandy beaches and 3 bar/restaurants. If you are prepared to take a longer journey you can visit Cognac, Angouleme or Limoges - or head further south to the Spanish border - have a day out and lunch in Biarritz.
