Situated just 20 minutes from Carcassonne. This is a spacious property in a rural setting of the Minervois wine growing region, set in the heart of the surrounding vineyards with spectacular views of the Montagne Noir to the north and the Corbiere Massif to the south. The house is well situated for visiting the sites of the magnificent region, where you will find the ancient city of Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi, the Cathar Castles, the Abbeys, the Roman churches, the mediaeval villages and more. You can walk, bike or jog through the vineyards and countryside, discover friendly wine producers, taste local produce from the Corbieres and Black mountain regions or simply relax by the pool. Situated on a winding country lane 5 minutes walk from the village of Marseillette, which has the distinction of having the famous Canal du Midi running through one side of the village and the river Aude through the other. La Celeste is within walking distance of a café, bar and restaurant.

Outside the months of July and August, at a reduced rate the ground floor is available as a pool apartment sleeping up to 4 persons as sole occupancy.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday during July and August. There is flexibility with start and finish dates outside of these months. The house is available after 4pm and must be vacated by 10am on day of departure.

Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Pool, bath, hand towels and linen are included. Please bring your own beach towels. The house will be cleaned prior to your arrival and on your departure which is included in the price. For 2 week bookings linen is changed after the 1st week.

 

Notes on accommodation
This spacious property sleeps up to 8 persons in 2 double, and 2 twin bedrooms. The property is particularly ideal for 2 families of 4 or less, who wish to maintain some privacy as the upstairs and downstairs can be self contained.
Downstairs alone can be rented outside the months of July and August. It is suitable for up to 4 persons with full access to the terraces and pool, and sole occupancy of the property.
For those who visit during the winter months, the house is fully centrally heated

Outside
You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to relax, or dine 'alfresco'. There is a large terrace at rear of house with dining table and 8 chairs, and fabulous views of the vineyards and mountains. At one side of the house there is a swimming pool measuring 8x4m, and a terrace with another outside shaded dining area with table and 8 chairs, BBQ, 8 sunloungers and parasols. On the third side is a large grassed area with palm and cherry trees. On the remaining side is ample car parking space. Beyond the house, that is situated in the picturesque Etang de Marseillette, you can walk, jog or cycle through the peaceful traffic free countryside. or along the banks of the Canal du Midi.

Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean is situated 45 minutes drive away. Along this stretch of coastline stretching from the Camargue to the Spanish border you will find many beaches. The large resort of Narbonne Plage being the nearest of them. For those that wish to sample the local seafood in the numerous restaurants visit Sête; Mèze and Marseillan and savour the typically French lifestyle with many cáfes and restaurants.

Golf
Situated close to the medieval town, the Carcassonne Golf Club well deserves its reputation as a course of international standard. Even the most experienced and demanding players will be seduced by the exceptional quality of it's fairways and the speed of it's greens. The course has been created using and respecting the manual rolling relief of the terrain, designed with elegance and balance, the magnificent panoramic views giving an extra pleasure and delight. Its 18 holes totalling 5800m, with a par of 71, are open all year round.

Travel
The cost of flights into the area vary depending on the day of the week. Outside the months of July and August we can offer flexibility on start and finish dates. Airports that serve the area are Carcassonne 30 min, Toulouse 75 min, Perpignan 60min, Montpellier 1 hr30 min, Gerona 2hr. Car hire is available at all airports. Discounts are often available through airlines at the time of booking flights. A car is recommended, For those that do not drive an airport collection service is available.

Distances
The house is well situated for visiting the historic sites of the magnificent region, where you will find the ancient city of Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi, the Cathar Castles, the Abbeys, the Roman churches, the mediaeval villages and more.

Further details
La Celeste is within walking distance of a restaurant and bar. Nearby Trèbes has numerous shops and supermarkets and restaurants. The fabulous medieval walled city of Carcassonne is 17km away and as well as numerous restaurants and bars, it has an excellent golf club which welcomes visiting players.

Booking notes
A 25% deposit is payable to secure dates. Balance is payable 8 weeks prior to arrival date together with 360 euros (or £250). Security Deposit which will be refunded by post, minus any breakage charges. Or in full on completion of a satisfactory inventory following your departure. Any currency exchange or transfer fees are payable by the client.

Guest comments
We all had a fantastic two weeks which included days at beach, cycling and boating on the beautiful Canal du Midi and of course the local wine and cheese.

La Celeste was a great holiday villa in a superb region of France which we hope to visit again one day, maybe next year if you are still renting?
