The apartment is very cosy in the winter months, which makes it suitable for longer lets (all heating costs to be paid by the tenant). The living room has a working fireplace and plenty of logs (Charras is situated in the middle of forests). With its large French styled windows and stone walls the house remains cool during the hot summer months. Every effort has been made to make the Chateau child friendly and the pool complies with the French regulations for pool safety. The apartment is extremely comfortable and we have tried to ensure that our guests have a very pleasant stay.

Guest comments
Colette and Mark Ramuz 2008 The best equipped gite/apartment in the 10years we have been coming to France. Pool and grounds fabulous.
Albans family 2010: The apartment is wonderfully equipped for a family, with everything we needed and more!
Jake & Gabrielle 2010: Many lovely nights in the front yard enjoying the late summer sun, preceded by our usual dip in the pool. We feel recharged.
Nicola Webb-Jackson 2010: We had a fabulous 2 weeks. Weather a bit unsettled but Charras is such a wonderful place that it didn't matter. Both children made lots of new friends and we'll definitely be coming back next year.
Ranj, Sarah & Family 2011: I can say without any doubt that the Chateau has surpassed my expectations. As well as the grandeur of the property, the accommodation has met all our practical needs. The grounds are safe and well-maintained, the children have not wanted to leave the confines of the Chateau except for regular trips to the boulangerie.
Owner profile
About the owner
I'm a UK citizen who has spent most of my career overseas - Caribbean, US, and now Russia. I try to get to Charras as often as I can, usually 2 or 3 times a year. When I'm not renting the property my family and friends love to spend time there too. It's truly a very special place.
Year purchased: 2009
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I've lived and worked on several continents, but I chose to buy a place to vacation in France because of the unique quality of life the country offers. When I first saw the Chateau de Charras on the internet I knew I had to visit. There are few things in life which live up to expectations, but the Chateau managed to exceed mine. Charras and the Charente is slightly off the beaten track, but remains quietly, traditionally rural France while being connected to the modern world.
