Our gite 'Le Briou', officially graded 3 stars, stone-built, has been entirely renovated. A high standard is offered for a family of 4 people. It is completely detached, with a private garden (400 sq.m.), a private shady parking area, and direct access to a swimming pool. The 2.5 acres of the property (B&B and Briou) are yours. The shared swimming pool (11.5 m long) with Roman steps is completely surrounded with nature, flowers and mature trees. The petanque area: enjoy an aperitif (Cognac cocktail or Pineau des Charentes) with the French owner (speaking fluent English) and the B&B guests. 50 minutes from La Rochelle and only 15 mins drive from Cognac, with its distilleries and its French gardens. Do not miss the ancient Roman city of Saintes, with its ruins and present day charm and restaurants. The coast is less than 1 hour away, offering miles of sandy beaches.

Private garden of 400 sq.m. with mature trees. Barbecue. Outside table and chairs. Access to the large property with the pool, table tennis, pétanque area.
Free access to the tennis court in Sonnac (2 mins drive).
Coast/Beach
Royan, the most famous seaside resort on the Atlantic coast, is 50 mins drive. Its large beach, shops, and nearby “La Palmyre” zoo (largest in Europe) make this coast mostly attractive. If you prefer no buildings and only the dunes, the pine-tree forests and the “wild beach”, you will be absolutely delighted by the “Cote Sauvage”, 40km long.
Do not forget La Rochelle with its lovely gardens, old buildings and towers.
