Les Tachats is located on the outskirts of the picturesque hilltop village of Hautefort, in the Perigord Noir region of the Dordogne. An area of rolling hills, historic chateaux and picture postcard villages. The cottage and studio were originally a tied "fermette" owned by the chateau. The building has been beautifully restored retaining many of the original features and is set in a floral garden which won 2nd prize in the 'Hautefort in Bloom 2010' gardening competition. There is a recently installed swimming pool and spa with a generous sun terrace which benefits from a south facing aspect and panoramic views of the valley and the chateau. Les Tachats is ideally situated to visit the many attractions of the Dordogne.

About the owner
We are a semi-retired professional couple in our early 50's who moved to France from Hampshire in 2004, to indulge our love of good food, good wine, and a passion for our garden.
Having spent many happy family holidays in the Dordogne, our two sons have now grown up and our 4 grandchildren are now also regular visitors. We are friendly people who thoroughly enjoy meeting our visitors and our aim is to ensure that our guests have an excellent stay.
Year purchased: 2004
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We fell in love with the region whilst enjoying a number of family holidays. This was primarily because of the beautiful countryside with its lakes, rivers & forests, the wealth of visitor attractions and the friendly local culture. Our village at Hautefort St Agnan is particularly pretty with a premier chateau, a 17th century hospice museum and a charming old quarter nestled around the chateau. The village also has good amenities including a number of restaurants, shops, bank ATM, doctors, dentist, etc.
Unique benefits of the property
Staying at Les Tachats offers the benefit of being able to both relax in very quiet, beautiful surroundings, not overlooked by other properties, but also being a few minutes walk away from the village shops and supermarket. One can take a stroll in the morning for the fresh bread & croissants without having to get in the car and also visit the restaurants in the evening & enjoy a glass of wine with a meal without having to drive back afterwards.
