Situated 10km south west of Pontivy, 40km north of Vannes and 110km from Rennes, Quelven is ideally located in the heart of Brittany. It is a hamlet with ancient houses, a creperie and a cafe/pizza.The organ has been restored and is used for concerts during the Pontivy Music Festival. The village of Guern is 5 mins away by car and has a boulangerie / general store. Supermarkets and wonderful food shops can be found in Pontivy 12 minutes away which has a wide selection of local produce, restaurants and a weekly market. The property is within close proximity of a riding school, golf course and the river Blavet where canoeing, boat trips, cycling & walking along the towpath can be enjoyed. The house is located 45 mins drive from the beaches near Vannes & from Lac de Guerledan where a full range of watersports are available.

Accessibility
All of ground floor including bedroom, en suite bathroom, terrace and garden has been specially adapted to offer complete wheelchair access. First floor is not accessible to wheelchair users. The bathroom (wetroom) was designed for wheelchair use and a bathroom wheelchair and a hoist are available on request.

Coast/Beach
Erdeven near Carnac is 50 minutes by car .It is between Vannes and Lorient and close to the famous port of Trinite sur Mer where Ellen Mc Arthur keeps her trimaran.The beaches are sloping sands.Or plage Coral on Lac de Guerledan, 40 minutes away ,where artificial sand beaches are ideal for watersports.
Golf
Golf course at Rimaison has 9 holes and is less than 10 minutes away.
Travel
The nearest airport is Rennes 1h 20 by car,then Dinard 1h40.Brest is 2 h away. Ports of St Malo 1 hour 45 minutes, Roscoff 2 hours or Caen 4h 30. Use of a car is essential and car rental is widely available at all ports and airports.

Distances
The nearest village is Guern,5 min.away with a post office,newsagent,and several bars .Pontivy,10 min.has doctors,a hospital,cinemas and the lovely feel of a provincial town.Josselin with its famous castle and market is 30 min.Vannes has great shops and is more sophisticated.Quimper,2 hours on a route nationale is worth a visit as well as Pont-Aven andd the horses at Hennebont on the way.
Closer,10 min.,St.Nicolas des Eaux has a bridge over the Blavet, a towpath and restaurants by the riverside
Further details
The local area has a wealth of historic features.The fountain(spring)at Quelven has Roman as well as mediaeval remains.The statues in the church date from the 13th century and the tower is 70 m.high.
My house book contains the name of the restaurants and shops which have been appreciated by all.
You can walk to collect your croissants for breakfast 5 minutes from the house when the bread delivery is made!
