Ideally situated halfway between the mountains and the sea at 42º31'28.96''N 2º55'09.78''E the apartment is on the ground floor of a large detached villa standing in its own grounds with orange, lemon and fig trees. A terrace provides an attractive, secluded eating area. There are swings, trapeze rings and a rope ladder for children. Laroque is a charming village nestling in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The nearby Mediterranean coast has several resorts, Argeles, Canet, St.Cyprien and Collioure. Spain is 1/2 hour's drive away with the famous Dali museum at Figueres and some superb golf courses. This is a truly delightful part of France, the grandeur of the Pyrenees contrasting with the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean. Andorra is just over 2 hour's away after a spectacular drive through the mountains. The Cathar castles of Queribus and Peyrepertuse are worth a visit as is Rennes le Chateau. (Read the Da Vinci Code!) The airports of Perpignan and Gerona are within 1 hour's drive.

Bookings overlapping 2 periods will be calculated on a pro rata daily basis. From 1 November to 1 March, electricity is charged at cost. The apartment is metered seperately by EDF.

Changeover day
Entirely flexible regarding days of arrival/departure, subject to availibility. We ask tenants to arrive after 4pm and leave before 10.30am

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed and vanitory unit. There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table etc. French windows lead into the garden and parking area.
Bedroom 2 is a smaller room with twin beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers etc.
Bathrooms: Shower room with shower, WC and wash basin.
Vanitory unit in the double bedroom.
Kitchen: A Formica topped counter with cupboards under separates the kitchen area from the living room. Built-in electric cooker, gas/electric hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, food mixer, toaster, coffee machine. Washing machine and tumble dryer in the garage.
Utility Room: The utility room houses the vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board, barbecue utensils and domestic cleaning equipment.
Living Rooms: The living room contains a 3-piece suite, dining table, 4 chairs, coffee table, standard lamp, wood burning stove for the winter months, 2 mobile fans for the summer, French TV and DVD player. French windows lead directly onto the garden.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels and bed linen are not included but can be provided on request at a cost of £10 per bed. Holidaymakers are asked to leave the apartment in as clean a state as they find it.

 

Notes on accommodation
Electric fan heaters are available for the hotter days. The garden is safe for children and they can roam at will and play on the swings and trapeze. However we do ask parents to keep and eye on them. We cannot take responsibilty for a child running into a moving swing. The double gates leading out of the property are electrically operated and tenants are given a telecommande on arrival.

Accessibility
This is a ground floor apartment hence no stairs to climb.

Outside
There is a large garden which surrounds the villa. Leading from the apartment is a private sitting/eating terrace with dining table and chairs, sun loungers and parasol. There are deck chairs under the trees which provide shade when needed. The swimming pool (9m x 4m) is solar heated and completely private. On the adjoining terraces are sunbeds, a parasol, table/chairs and water chute. Owner's sole use is requested for maintenance until 9.30am each day.

Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean beaches are 15 to 40 mins drive away depending on your choice. The coastal road leading from Argeles down into Spain is a delight though rather twisty. The views are superb.

Golf
There is a golf course at St. Cyprien which is about 35 mins drive away. Several good, cheaper, golf courses are in Spain.

Travel
The nearest airport is Perpignan which is about 45 mins away. Fares to Gerona airport in Spain are often more reasonably priced. Driving distance to Gerona via the motorway is roughly 1 hour. Use of car is highly recommended. There is so much to see and do and one would be limited without transport.

Laroque-des-Albères is 2km away as is Villelongue dels Monts
St. Genis des Fontaines is 3km away as is Sorède.
Perpignan is 21km away. The Spanish frontier is 16km away.

Further details
There are small shops in each of the villages, including bakers, butchers, grocers, newsagents, hairdressers etc. It is cheaper to shop at the supermarkets and there is a Champion about 7 mins drive away. There is an enormous Auchan supermarket in Perpignan.

Booking notes
A 25% deposit secures the booking and a receipt/confirmation of dates is sent by return. The final payment together with a £100 returnable damage/cleaning deposit is due 8 weeks before arrival when details showing how to find the apartment will be sent.
