This comfortable, well-equipped apartment is located in the beautiful area of La Clusaz, which nestles at the foot of the majestic Aravis Mountains in the French Alps, just 50 km from Geneva airport and 35 minutes from the lovely town and lake of Annecy. La Clusaz is a traditional Alpine village and very much ‘La Vieille France’. It has plenty of restaurants, shops and leisure facilities including in winter, downhill and cross-country skiing, sledding, skating, snowmobiling, hiking, dog sledding and in summer, walking, hang gliding, cycling, via ferrata, golf, riding and pony riding, archery, and swimming. There is an aquatic centre and a children’s leisure centre in the village. The mountain views are, quite simply, breathtaking and from several vantage points the wonderful Mont Blanc range spreads out before you. If you love mountains but also want plenty of easily accessible leisure facilities then La Clusaz is for you.

Over the Christmas/New Year period bookings may be made outside of the usual Saturday to Saturday schedule. In such instances, rents will be charged on a daily pro rata basis.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is situated in a quiet location just 10 mins walk from the village centre or 3 mins by car. There is off-road parking at the front and it has its own garage, ski locker and cellar (‘cave’). There is electric heating throughout. In 2011, a free wifi hot-spot became accessible from the apartment. Wifi is also available at the Tourist Office. In the sitting room are various games and books and the TV doubles up also as a DVD and CD player so don’t forget to bring your favourite films or music! We are sorry, but for the sake of maintaining the apartment to a high standard, pets are not allowed. We regret also that the apartment is for non-smokers only.

Outside
The apartment has a south-facing, secluded balcony with lovely mountain views, and is furnished with a table and chairs (for six people) - just perfect for taking that late breakfast in the morning sun or maybe that evening drink as you gaze out onto the mountains.

Coast/Beach
One enchanting aspect of La Clusaz is its proximity to Lake Annecy. This beautiful lake is just an easy 35 minute drive away (about 32 km) or you can get there by bus, or taxi. There are several attractive (grass) beaches to be discovered not to mention the delightful town itself.

Golf
There is a five hole golf course at the Chapelle des Confins – about 10 minutes drive from the village centre. At the same location is a driving range and putting green. Putting is also available in the village centre. There is another golf course at Le Grand Bornand – about 15 to 20 minutes drive from La Clusaz.

Skiing
The La Clusaz area covers five interconnected mountain massifs with 86 slopes and over 132 kilometres of ski trails equipped with 57 lifts (of which at least six start from the village centre). There are ski runs for all ability levels with coaching and ski school facilities available from English speaking instructors. The area is also well-known for its cross-country skiing and has specialist cross-country ski schools. Whether alpine or cross-country, children are well-catered for and there are ski schools for those as young as three years of age.

Other snow-based activities include winter sledding, skating (there is a skating rink), snowmobiling, hiking and snow shoeing, and dog sledding.

The apartment is close to ski lifts and a ski bus stops just outside the apartment. Ski buses are frequent (winter and summer) and connect to the various ski locations.

Special interest holidays
If you are a keen walker and want to visit La Clusaz in the spring, summer or early autumn you will find the area is rich in walks of all types and grades – from the easy stroll to the challenge of ascending to a mountain ridge. The well-marked paths will take you, according to your wish, through alpine pastures, forests and along high ridges and the memory of those glorious mountain panoramas will remain with you long after your holiday has ended.

Travel
Geneva airport, with its regular scheduled flights, is only 50 km away. There is a taxi or shuttle bus service to La Clusaz, or you can hire a car. At La Clusaz there is a regular ski bus service during the winter and summer seasons – free to those with a ski pass or ‘Carte d’Hote’. Though not strictly necessary in winter or summer, a car is advisable in summer if you wish to access remoter areas and certainly in the off-season when public transport is less frequent.

Distances
The apartment is about a kilometre from the village which has a variety of shops, patisseries, 3 or 4 small supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and bars. Annecy is just 40 minutes away (32 or so kilometres) by car. Megeve (described as the ‘Paris of the Alps’) and Chamonix are reached relatively easily.

Further details
The area produces its famous Reblochon cheese which is sold in the weekly markets in La Clusaz and the neighbouring village of Le Grand Bornand as well as on local farms (when walking you will come across these). Annecy with its historic buildings, canals and pavement cafes is a wonderful place in which to relax and while away the time, and day trips can be made to places such as Chamonix and Geneva. Booking notes
At the time of booking a 25% non-refundable deposit will be requested. The balance is due no later than 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. A £100 key and security deposit is required which will be returned provided the apartment has been left clean and undamaged and the keys have been returned. All cheques should be made payable to 'G & BA March'.
