La Maison Jaune - the Yellow House, is a delightful converted 2-bedroom stone barn in the village of Trausse Minervois. With cheerful yellow shutters. This compact renovated barn is light and airy, and has 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedded room, a spacious bathroom with bath and shower overhead, an automatic washing machine, plus iron and board in the bathroom. Cheerful Catalan colours of terracotta and yellow follow the original kitchen tiles throughout the house, against white walls. Comfy yellow sofas in the L-shaped lounge, offer relaxation. CD player, radio and books add to your comfort. This house is furnished to a good standard, as it is the owners home during the winter, and has recently had the benefit of new furniture. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas hob, fan assisted oven, new microwave and all utensils, crockery and cutlery, and DVD player!

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week, per couple or 2 guests using 1 bedroom. For the 2nd bedroom (3/4) guests + 150 euros per week (2008). Maximum of 4 guests. Heating: 22 October - 11 April inclusive at 50 euros per week. Long let considered 18 October + POA.
Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible, so we can accommodate your airline timetables. Guest arrival is 1500 and departure by 1100.

| Other: | Tiny courtyard between original barn doors and double glazed French doors. Open the barn doors and you can sit outside - this is a very quiet location! A balcony leads off the main bedroom, and is ideal for those evening drinks! |

Coast/Beach
30km to Narbonne Plage - miles of sandy beaches - plenty of seaside cafes, serving good food. 15km to the Canal du Midi - opportunity for a 2 hour boat trip on the canal, flishing or swimming in Lac Jaurres at Homps (same distance).
Skiing
Les Ongles is approximately 1 +1/2 hours drive away and has good skiing. Please check the ski reports!
Special interest holidays
This is excellent walking territory. An English speaking walking guide can be arranged, via the owner, to suit your requirements. Individual tuition in watercolour art and technique can be organised, just a short drive away, with a professional English artist, based on the bank of the Canal du Midi! Enchanting location!
Bikes can be deliveredto/collected from the house for your holiday! )small delivery charge.) Can supply child bikes, child seats, tagalongs, child trailer. Please contact for further information.
Travel
The nearest main airport (24 kms by car - 1/2 hour) is Carcassonne, which is well served by Ryanair. Ryanair also fly into Bezier airport from Bristol and Stansted in 2008, and Stansted - Perpignan is due to open July 2008. Car hire is available via Ryanair on their website, or via Hertz and Europecar at the airport.
Distances
Carcassonne within 30 mins. The Canal du Midi is approx 10km away. The village of Homps is a 15 minute drive, on the Canal du Midi with several really good restaurants. Most of the Cathar castles and grottos are within 20 mins drive.
Further details
Trausse is still a traditional French village dating back to 8/9th century. Surrounded by vineyards (there are 4 caves in the village). There are numerous walks in the area, beautiful drives, the Chateau Lastours, Grottos, Gorges - in particular the village of Minerve, perched on the Gorge du Cesses. (30 mins drive) Go up into the Black Mountains, or have a day out at the sea! There is a small shop in Trausse where you can get fresh bread and supplies. Delivery vans visit the village and supply meat, fish, veg,etc. A supermarket is only 10 minutes away. A bar/restaurant will be open in the village by end of May 2008.
Booking notes
All deposits/payments are made in Euros, via Paypal secure internet system. 50% non-refundable deposit on booking (but can be transferred to another date if available). Final balance plus security deposit of 200e payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.
Regretfully, cheques and bank transfers are not accepted.
