Our home was built in 1802 in the traditional Charentaise style. We have maintained many of these features whilst making sure the house is comfortable and welcoming. We are in a quiet hamlet, close to the village and surrounded by vineyards. Burie is a 10 min walk from the house and there are shops, a post office, bar and a restaurant. Optional evening dinner is freshly prepared on request and we specialise in providing a gluten-free diet if advised in advance.

Notes on prices
Prices are per room, per night, 2 people, including breakfast. Single occupancy - 50 euros. Child's bed in parent's room - 12 euros. Free use of cot. Dinner - 22 euros.
Notes on accommodation
There are comfy sofas, satellite TV and a library of books in the lounge, where the original fireplace and oak floor remain. Wood burning stoves in the lounge and dining room provide warmth in the cooler months.
Accessibility
All our bedrooms are on the first floor and accessed by a wide staircase with handrail.
Outside
There is a pretty garden at the front of the house where guests can sit and read, enjoy a glass of wine and relax. There are also tables and chairs in the garden at the back, overlooking the vineyards.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful Atlantic coast is easily accessible. The resort of Royan can be reached by car within an hour and the ancient port of La Rochelle in just over an hour. The coastline between the two is rugged and picturesque.
Golf
There are 4 golf courses within easy reach. The closest is 15 minutes away at Saintes. Others are Cognac, Angouleme and Royan.
Travel
It is recommended that you have use of a car during your stay. Bordeaux airport is approx 1 hour 40 mins drive, La Rochelle 1 hour 15 mins and Poitiers 2 hours. Cherbourg is approx 5 hours and Calais 8 hours. TGV trains from Paris to Angoulême in only 2½ hours.
Distances
Our village, Burie, is a 10 min walk from the house. There are shops, a post office, bar and a restaurant. Cognac is 12km and Saintes 20km.
Booking notes
We ask for a 20% deposit upon booking and the balance payable in euros on departure.
