This is an ideal ‘escape from it all’ relaxing holiday location. The south facing farmhouse is a spacious property in an elevated position at the end of a quiet village lane. It has panoramic views over the French countryside, culminating with the fantastic backdrop of the snow capped Pyrenees. A converted farmhouse, with 3 double bedrooms, a spacious living room with dining table, open fire and TV, video, DVD, large kitchen diner, and a bathroom with separate wc. Outside you can relax in the extensive enclosed garden and orchard, or on the patio/sun terrace with its 15ft splash pool and BBQ. Your days can be filled doing as much or as little as you like. There are lovely walks and cycle routes from the house itself, a short (8km) car ride takes you to the local towns of Maubourguet or Lembeye with restaurants, markets and supermarkets, and longer journeys (1-2 hours) allow you to see the beauty of the Pyrenees National Park, the Atlantic beaches, Lourdes and the Adour valley.

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Saturday, but this may be flexible.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bedlinen, hand towels and tea towels are supplied. The house is fully cleaned between guests, and a set of fresh linen supplied every week. We ask guests to vacate the property by 10am on changeover day, and not to arrive before 3.30pm to allow cleaning. |

Accessibility
All on one level, so no stairs, but there is some floor height variance between some rooms, met by single steps. Wheelchair users should be aware.
Outside
Large enclosed, private gardens set partly on slope with small patio area at the top to enjoy the best views. Terraced patio area with 15ft splash pool, garden furniture and sun loungers. Plenty of space for children to play and explore. Portable BBQ. Orchard with range of fruit trees. Large decked areas outside sun room and overlooking gardens with mountain views. Outdoor dining with large bar-b-que and seating for 6.
Coast/Beach
2 hours drive from the white sands of the Atlantic at Biarritz and St Jean de Luz. Fantastic surfing breakers at Cap Breton, 2 hours drive.
Golf
3 courses, all 40 mins away. Pau - one of the oldest courses in France, Lourdes, Bagneres de Bigorre with views of the Pic de Midi from nearly every hole.
Skiing
La Mongie an hours drive away.
Travel
Pau 40 mins drive. Toulouse 2 hours drive. Bordeaux 2.5 hours drive.
By train -TGV to Tarbes 40 mins drive.
A car is essential.
Distances
Lembeye 7km, supermarket (open Sundays), market, banks, bars and restaurant. Maubourguet 8km, supermarket, market, banks, restaurants. Marciac 15km with the international jazz festival in August. Vic en Bigorre 15km, large Saturday market, Lourdes ‘the city of miracles’ 45 mins drive. Pau city centre 45 mins with its Chateaux & shopping. Spanish border 45 mins drive. Pic du Midi just over an hours drive with all the scenery of the Pyrenees National Park.
Further details
Cycling can be enjoyed from the house, either easy trails for children along quiet country roads, or more difficult along tracks through the hillside, to the strenuous routes for the more serious enthusiast. Walking is a peaceful way of enjoying the countryside and different routes for different ability and energy levels are marked. Maps and directions are available at the gite. Vidouze is on the pilgrim route St Jacques de Compostela, and pilgrims, sometimes even with donkeys, can be seen on their way to Spain. The Tourist Information offices at Maubourguet or Lembeye will supply details of local attractions and we have a welcome pack with full information for you on arrival.
Booking notes
To book your holiday, please contact us for a booking form. A 25% deposit is required to reserve the house with the balance due 8 weeks before departure. A refundable £250 damages/excess cleaning deposit is also required at the time of paying the balance.
