Maison du Lac has recently been totally refurbished to a high standard. It stands beside the recreational lake at Grolejac which has a safe swimming beach and is also popular for fishing. Fishing tackle and permits can be acquired locally. The lake is peaceful and no motor boats are allowed to use it. There is a tennis court within a few minutes walk of the house. Grolejac is on the Dordogne river and has 3 restaurants, bakery, butcher, small supermarket, 2 canoe stations and a cycle path which extends along the old railway track to Sarlat (10 kms) and to Souillac (30 kms). Medieval Sarlat is only 10 kms away and the property is well placed for all the chateaux, bastides and other attractions of the Dordogne valley. The caves at Lascaux and Padirac, Rocamadour and the vineyards of the Lot valley are all within an hour's drive. The area is renowned for excellent restaurants and wonderful markets. Canoeing is very popular and Grolejac has 2 canoe stations on the Dordogne river.

Changeover day
During July and August the changeover day is Saturday but it is flexible for the remainder of the year. Guests are asked to leave the house by 10.30am and to arrive any time after 3.30pm.

| Living Rooms: | The large living/dining room has French windows leading onto the balcony overlooking the lake. There is a TV (English), DVD, video and CD player and comfortable sofas around the log burning stove. There is also a dining table and 6 chairs. |
| Other: | The balcony is furnished with a table and 6 chairs and has stairs leading to a terrace and the garden. The terrace has a further table and 6 chairs. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
All linen and towels are included except swimming towels. These are changed weekly and the house is cleaned between tenancies. |

Accessibility
The twin bedroom and the shower room are on the ground floor so anyone using that room would not need to go upstairs. The property is accessed from its own drive, there are 3 steps up into the house. The balcony is accessed directly from the living room - there are no steps.
Outside
The house has its own drive and private parking. There is a small front garden and a terrace and large lawn at the back facing the lake. On the lawn is a badminton net (rackets provided) and croquet if required. The lawn leads down to a stream which separates it from the lakeside. The shady terrace under the balcony has a movable barbecue and a table and six chairs. In the garden are four sunbeds.
Coast/Beach
The lake has its own sandy beach which is clean and safe for swimming. There is a lifeguard on duty most of the time. Swimming is also popular in the Dordogne river which has attractive beaches and is also clean and safe.
Golf
There is an attractive 9 hole course at Vitrac on the Dordogne about 5kms from the property and alternatively at Souillac Coutry Club which is about 20kms away.
Travel
The nearest airports are Bergerac (1 hour away), Toulouse (2 hours away), Rodez (2 hours away), Limoges (2 hours away), Bordeaux (3 hours away). Budget airlines and larger operators use these routes and car hire is available from all airports. By road the A20 from the north is easily accessible, we are about 8 - 10 hours drive from the channel ports. There is a train service to Gourdon (10 kms away) from Paris.
Distances
The house is in the village of Grolejac - 10 kms to Sarlat; 10 kms to Gourdon; 6 kms to Domme; 30kms to Rocamadour; 30kms to Lascaux; 10kms to the chateau at Beynac; 50kms to the Lot valley and vineyards; 50kms to Bergerac and surrounding vineyards.
Further details
Both Sarlat and Gourdon have shops, banks, supermarkets. There is a doctor's surgery in Grolejac and hospitals in Sarlat and Gourdon.
