Our charming, historic, two story, two bedroom cottage and large garden is fully furnished and is self catering. It is available for year round holiday and vacation rental.
Located in the pastoral countryside of the Cote d Or, Burgundy , France and on the banks of the Armancon river in the medieval town of Semur en Auxois, the cottage is a charming example of medieval architecture and is a local stone and beam construction. The cottage has recently been renovated by local artisans and some of the interior stone walls, stone supports and oak beams and the 400 year old staircase have been uncovered. Quality furniture, natural materials and colourful vintage fabrics have been used to provide a cosy home away from home, with gas central heating throughout, for your comfort.

Notes on prices
Long stays over 14 days 10% discount. Over 28 days 15% discount. Late bookings- within 28 days of booking taking place - 10% discount. within 14 days of booking taking place - 15% discount. Short breaks are available but a short break premium of 20 euros per day will be charged for stays shorter than 7 days.
Changeover day
Changeover days are usually a Saturday, however this is flexible. Arrival time is usually 5pm. Departure time is usually 10am. Again these can be flexible.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
All bed linen, towels, cleaning equipment is provided for stay and is included in price. Property is cleaned after each rental. Mid stay clean can be arranged and will need to be paid for when booking. Bed linen and towels are washed after each rental. |
Notes on accommodation
The cottage is best suited to couples and families with children who are too young to crawl or over 10 years of age. There are steps up to the front door and the river is very near to the property. The cottage is no smoking and pets are not allowed.
Accessibility
Due to the lay out of the cottage it is not suitable for those with mobility problems and/or physical disabilities.
Outside
The tranquil, private garden is situated a short walk from the cottage and is found behind ancient rose granite walls. The garden contains many fruit trees, bushes and plants and the largest vineyard in the medieval town. There is a BBQ grill and garden furniture to be found in the attached garage which has space for one car.
Travel
Paris airport is approx 275km away. Train - TGV is approxi 20km away. Autoroute is 10km away. From Calais is can take between 6 - 8 hours to get to the cottage - depending on the route you take. Use of a car is essential as many of the areas worth visiting are a travelling distance away.
Distances
The cottage is within Semur en Auxois and the town centre is a short uphill walk away. The Morvan national park is approx 30km away and Dijon/ Beaune/Autun are all over 60km away.

Semur en Auxois is in the heart of Burgundy and is a thriving modern town as well as a rich historic site. It forms a natural citadel, high on pink granite outcrop above a u-shaped section of the Armancon River. Legend has it that it was built by Hercules on his way to Spain but the earliest written evidence of a town charter dates back to the 7th century. Attractions include shops, cafes, restaurants, weekly market, live performance theatres, museum, ancient ramparts and La Collegiale de Notre Dame - one of the finest 13th century Gothic churches in Burgundy. You can walk, bike ride, horse ride, fish, swim, go to the cinema, go wine tasting and enjoy eating out in some of the loveliest countryside on earth.
