There are 2 tastefully converted barns and 1 small compact detached house, with balcony on this site, which can be let separately or together providing accommodation for up to 12 people. The houses are set in over an acre of secluded gardens with a superb 12m x 6m swimming pool, which has lighting, Roman steps and a solar heated shower. Our pool is now enclosed in compliance with the new pool safety regulations. Each house has its own patio area with garden furniture and barbecue. Although the setting is rural with stunning views, there are plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and things to do and see nearby.

Changeover day
Bookings run Saturday 4.00pm to Saturday 10.00am in season. However, other changeover days are possible out of season so ideal for short, or longer, breaks. La Petite Maison (1 bedroom) is ideal for Winter holidays or as a base for house hunting trips.
Notes on accommodation
LES MIRABELLES, the larger barn conversion, sleeps up to 6 persons. Please note that this property is not suitable for toddlers. At the entrance there is a pretty patio area, which has a large canopy for shade. There is a stone barbeque and patio table and chairs, making this the perfect place to eat or just sit and enjoy the tranquillity and fantastic view.
LA PETITE MIRABELLE, the smaller barn conversion, is adjacent to, but not overlooked by Les Mirabelles. This property sleeps up to 4 persons. The entrance has a canopy and patio area, which has a barbeque, and patio furniture. Here you can relax under the shade of the magnificent Mulberry tree.
LA PETITE MAISON, situated nearby, is a compact 1 bedroom detached house with balcony, perfect for 2 persons.
There is an information booklet, which gives details of places to visit, restaurants to try and things to do, and a visitors book in each property.

Outside
The houses are set in over an acre of secluded gardens, which has swings, and badminton. The table tennis is now situated under the new covered games area. A selection of bicycles are supplied for guests to use. There is also an impressive 12m x 6m swimming pool, which has lighting, Roman steps and a solar heated shower. A poolside patio area has ample pool loungers and parasols. The swimming pool area is now enclosed and fitted with a security gate, which conforms to the French safety regulations (AFNOR standards).
Coast/Beach
At Arcachon on the coast, about 2 hours away, is the Dune du Pyla, the highest sand dune in Europe.
The beach at Royan is approximately 80 minutes drive.
There is a beautiful man made beach at Aubeterre (about 15 minutes drive), suitable for swimming and there is also canoeing and horse riding.
There is a large lake with beaches at La Jemaye (about 30 minutes drive) which has many attractions, (including pedalos) and restaurants as well as being suitable for swimming.
Golf
There are 18 hole golf courses at Angouleme and Perigueux and a good 9 hole course at Pillac, near St. Severin.
Travel
It is approx 40 mins drive from Angouleme airport (Ryanair), 80 mins drive from Bordeaux airport, 60 mins drive from Bergerac airport, 2 hrs from Poitiers airport and Limoges airport (car hire at the airports can be arranged at time of booking your flights). 7 hrs drive from the port of St. Malo.TGV (high speed) train from Paris (also departs from Terminal 2, Charles de Gaulle Airport) takes around 3 hrs to Angoulême station (car hire opposite), which is about 40mins drive from Les Mirabelles.
Distances
This property is ideally located close to a rural hamlet in the vicinity of the towns of Verteillac, Ribérac, Villebois Lavalette and Mareuil. It offers a very peaceful holiday and yet has easy access to local amenities. At St. Paul Lizonne (10 mins drive) there is a Mini Golf (18holes). Indoor swimming, cinemas, go-karting and 10 pin bowling at Angouleme, 35 mins drive. Further afield is Futuroscope, situated near Poitiers, 2 hours drive. Also, 2 hrs drive, is Limoges, famous for its porcelain.
Further details
There is something to suit everybody's interest in the Dordogne, e.g. close by is the renowned nature reserve of Les Tourbières Site de Vendoire with its nature museum and restaurant. Here you can take leisurely country walks, hire boats or fish. Golf, tennis, horse-riding, canoeing, 10-pin bowling, go-karting and mountain-biking are all within easy reach. Details of various walks and cycle runs in the area can be found in the property. There are numerous splendid restaurants in the vicinity. A good variety of shops, supermarkets and banks are all within easy reach at nearby Verteillac, Ribérac, Aubeterre, St. Severin, Villebois Lavalette and Mareuil. Even the small, tranquil village of Champagne et Fontaine, just a few minutes drive, boasts an excellent small self-service grocer's shop, boulangerie, post office and pub/tabac. Here you can sit outside in the pretty, little square, sample a glass of the local Charente speciality Pineau and absorb the friendly atmosphere. Those who enjoy the bustling French markets will find plenty to choose from, with the renowned Friday market at Riberac being one not to be missed! Also, there are many fêtes, night markets & festivals going on throughout the summer.
The capital of the Dordogne, which is still referred to by the locals by its original name of Périgord, is Perigueux. This, the historical towns of Aubeterre, Nontron, Brantôme and the Charente town of Angoulême are all well worth a visit. There are 1001 châteaux in the Périgord, as well as caves with prehistoric paintings to be visited. Périgordian cuisine is world-renowned for its 'foie gras', truffles and confit de canard.
There are many interesting historical and archaeological sights to see and this property is a perfectly situated base to explore from. Or you can simply relax round the pool with a glass or 2 of the local vin rouge! In any case you will have an enjoyable holiday here in France where you are assured of a warm Scottish welcome from the owners.
Booking notes
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required at time of booking, balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival.
In addition a £150 breakage's/cleaning deposit, per property, returnable within 1 month of departure is required with final payment.
Please note smoking is not allowed in the properties.

Great hospitality-made us feel so welcome. Lovely surroundings & the children really enjoyed the pool. Riberac great for canoeing & the market. Aubeterre interesting, the Monolithic Church was inspiring (even to our 14yr old son!). The Chocolate Factory is worth a visit. Brantome is full of character & very interesting to visit, with lots of unique shops situated under the rocks. Thank you, Anna and Ali for being such fantastic hosts.
