Le Duplex offers unique, spacious accommodation in a beautiful Alpine Resort. We have combined original features of this large 70’s penthouse suite with a retro, contemporary approach to the interior and our choice of furniture/fittings. The overall feel of the place is stylish yet fun and we are sure you will feel at home staying with us. Our exceptional social area has an immense floor space with sloping ceilings and an open fire creating a homely and cosy atmosphere. With three sofa areas and two dining tables there is plenty of room for different activities to go on at the same time. Large bedrooms and bathrooms give the accommodation a feeling of luxury. We have a double garage for your use with cleaning facilities and a guest's washing machine, and a large lockable storage room for all your ski equipment & bikes etc. La Chapelle is the French starting point of the huge Portes du Soleil with 650km of ski pistes in 14 French/Swiss resorts inc. Chatel, Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets.

Notes on prices
Prices are for per person, per week, if two people are sharing a double room. Please enquire about midweek and long weekend prices.

Changeover day
We are very flexible and do not have a set 'Changeover day'.
Arrival time: after 3pm. Departure time: 10.30am.

Accommodation

 

Notes on accommodation
All prices include our daily breakfast buffet: fruit juices, teas; coffee; fresh croissants; local bread; preserves; cereals, fruit, yogurts, ham, eggs & cheese.
Our catered option includes a 3 course hearty home-cooked evening meal (with wine) 4 nights a week. This gives guests time to enjoy the comfort of home, without missing out on the delicious food served in our local restaurants on the other nights.
We also have Curry and Pizza nights where we can pick up quality take-out food from local restaurants for you.
Towels, linen, hairdryers, tea/coffee facilities are provided in all the rooms.

Le Duplex is family run and your hosts live in the property.

We are ideal for families with a cot, fun blow up beds, highchair & booster seat, car seat, and a Quinny Zapp buggy.
We can help with booking childcare arrangements and also offer babysitting nights. Under 2's go free and under 12’s have a great discounted rate.

Accessibility
A ramp to the entrance door and a lift takes you to the third floor of the building which is the main floor of Le Duplex, including the dining and living space, and double/triple bedrooms. Unfortunately the bathrooms and bedrooms have not been adapted for wheelchair users, although they are large with plenty of space for a wheelchair to be used.

Le Duplex is non-smoking but from the lounge we have a large balcony where you can smoke and admire the amazing views up and down the Abondance Valle

Outside
There is ample car parking spaces in an external car park, which is regularly snow cleared. We have a large double garage with cleaning facilities, which leads to a lockable drying/storage room for bikes and ski equipment.

Coast/Beach
We are 30 minutes away from the beaches and historic villages of Lake Geneva, Yvoire, Montreaux, Thonon-les-Bains and Evian.
From our location it is easy to reach many tourist attractions: Watersports; Swimming; Tennis; Football; Golf; Sailing; River/Lake Fishing; Bowling; Outdoor Painting/lessons; High teas with farmers, tasting the local Abondance cheese; Natural spas (Bain de Lavey is just perfect); Caves/; Aquapark, Miniature Railways; Labyrinths; Saltmines...

Golf
We are ideally located for Golfers - just a short drive away from Evian's Masters Golf Club and the Crans-Sur Sierre Golf Club, plus many others nearby in the Haute Savoie area of the French Alps and just over the border in Switzerland.

Skiing
Le Duplex is opposite La Chapelle's own gladed ski area - Cret Beni. With 8 lifts serving over 10 blue and green pistes it is great for beginners/children. The ESF ski school is located at the bottom of the slopes. There are 2 slope side restaurants.
La Chapelle's telecabine links you to more of the Portes du Soleil through Torgon and Morgins in Switzerland, and Super-Chatel. Chatel's Linga or Pre-la-Joux lifts are just 15 minutes away by the free bus or your hosts in an 8 people carrier. From here Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets are all easily accessible via pistes and chairs. Each area has their own snowpark, with rails & halfpipes. The new Burton stash opened last season.

As well as downhill skiing/boarding, there are 35km of Nordic Ski paths where you can discover winter nature in all it's beauty. There are cross-country pistes 'Ski de Fond' and snowshoe paths 'raquettes' to follow right outside Le Duplex.

Travel
We are on the French-Swiss border just below Lake Geneva. 1½ hour’s drive from Geneva airport. We can help arrange for transfers to/from the airport or from nearby train station Aigle in Switzerland. Thinking of driving? - It's between a 9-11 hour drive from Calais. We can provide you with road directions and toll costs. Pushed for time? Let us look into flights or channel crossings for you. If you're here for the spring or summer then we recommend a car or a bike!

Further details
Once the lifts close for spring, the surrounding area transforms into meadows full of lush green grass covered with a rainbow of wild flowers, broken only by the many waterfalls, streams and Abondance Cows.

Walkers
This is an ideal time for walkers - the higher you climb the cooler the air and still there is the chance to find snow and use snowshoes. There are many purpose built tracks, well signposted as well as themed trails to follow.
A variety of Walking and Horse riding maps, leaflets and guide books are available at the tourist office. For serious walkers there is a Morzine 'Carte de Randonnee' topographical, 1cm:250m scale map available to purchase showing detailed information on paths, rivers, lakes and waterfalls for the whole area.

Water
It is also a great opportunity for river sports (such as rafting, Tubing and Airyak) with the River Dranse fast flowing as all the snow melt runs downs the mountains and collects in the river.

Cycling/MTB
The opportunities for mountain biking and road cycling here are endless. There are marked paths to follow in the valley and up in to the mountains. 24 Summer lifts are open to give you access to 650km of marked tracks and 4 bike parks including Pre-la-Joux's Bike park and Chatel's permanent downhill trails.

Other Delights
The mountains offer us the most magnificent views when walking, cycling or pony/horse riding.

But you can also view the sights from the air either by para-gliding or by flying high on a cable from one side of the valley to the other, with the "Fantasticable".

At the base of Pre-la-Joux you also have the thrill of the Bob Luge - a summer bobsleigh run complete with a built in lift to reach the top.

Next to this are the Devalkart and the Rollerbe scooter runs, also both with lifts to get you up to the top.

For people who like to have their head in the clouds but their feet on the ground! La Chapelle and Chatel both offer many rock climbing and Via Ferrata walls.

Booking notes
A non refundable 25% deposit is required to confirm your booking. We must receive the remaining 75% 8 weeks before the start of your stay.

The Taxe de Sejour, a daily fee of 0.50€ will be added to your accommodation cost.

Cancellation Dates and Fees
8 - 4 wks before the start of your stay: 50% refund of the total cost.
4 - 2 wks before the start of your stay: 25% refund of the total cost.
2 wks before the start of your stay: No refund is given unless we are able to re-book your beds.
