The farmhouse has a 9 x 4m below ground swimming pool with covered attractive Summerhouse, Open Barn, BBQ & dining areas. The house is surrounded by 2 acres of landscaped gardens, orchard and wildflower meadow. We have ample parking and private access to accommodation. Lunch and dinner on request. English owners on site. English and French spoken. The village has a good bar/restaurant. Within 2km there is a supermarket, bakery, bank, post office, tabac, hairdresser, chemist, doctor (English spoken) and dentist. We are between the historic market towns of Fontenay-le-Comte and Lucon. Trout and coarse fishing are within a 5 min walk and permits can be arranged. Table tennis, badminton and boules are available. Bicycle hire available. The open countryside all around the property is quiet, tranquil and excellent for cycling, walks, birdwatching, painting, wildlife or just generally relaxing, whilst on the doorstep lie numerous places of interest and outdoor activities to suit everyone.

Notes on prices
3 course lunch 20 Euros/4 course dinner 25 Euros per adult including wine. All food homemade and organic. Payment can be made in Sterling or Euros on request. Midweek clean available. Bike hire rates on request. Fishing permits are currently 6 euros per day (3 lines max per person).
Changeover day
Gite Changeover Saturdays (other days can be considered or option of B&B to cover additional nights except during high season). Departure by 10a.m. Gite and Cottage available from 4pm. Open all year and heating can be provided.

Brand new stylish light and airy conversion. Lime washed stone walls, exposed beams with comfortable open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. Seating for 4. Sat. TV (English free-to-view), DVD player, books, DVD’s, games etc. Fully equipped kitchen with hotpoint cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, extensive quality kitchenware for 6. Tea towels, cloths, bin liners and cleaning products provided. Iron and ironing board etc. On first floor attractive double bedroom with exposed beams, velux window, double bed, bedside units & lamps, shelving and hanging space. Second bedroom with two single beds (option of cot), exposed beams (low headroom), hanging space. Large contemporary bathroom with exposed stonework & beams, shower with jets, toilet, sink, heated towel rail and generous storage space. Hairdryer provided. Points for hairdryer and shavers. All quality bed linen, bathroom towels & complimentary soap are provided. |

Notes on accommodation
Private pool for guests and owners only. Separate ground floor access to both properties. All accommodation is no smoking. No pets permitted. Comprehensive information packs. Bike hire (adults & childrens) available including helmets etc. Minibus tours available to major points of interest including beaches, markets, vineyards, Marais Poitevin, La Rochelle etc. Airport transfers on request.
Accessibility
Les Hirondelles – 1 Bed Gite is situated at ground level. Access is from the front of the farmhouse. There are 4 steps between guest room & bathroom and kitchen & lounge. Access from the exterior to the bedroom and bathroom is flat.
Pomme D’Amour – 2 Bed Cottage with access from the back of the farmhouse. Living area is on the ground floor. Beds and bathroom are on first floor. Access from the exterior is from a sloped pavement off quiet village road. Gates to pool area are a few yards away.
Outside
Both Les Hirondelles and Pomme D’Amour have their own private separate entrances and ample off road parking. The below ground alarmed swimming pool (9 x 4m) has surrounding patio and sun loungers. For Les Hirondelles there is a covered dining area in a picturesque summerhouse and separate portable gas BBQ. The summerhouse overlooks the pool and tropical planting around the poolside.
For Pomme D’Amour guests dining is in our large open stone barn with built in BBQ, stone chimney and views over the pool and surrounding gardens.
Both dining areas are surrounded by landscaped gardens with fruit trees, tropical shrubs, & wildflower meadow overlooking open countryside, fields of wheat and sunflowers and a large communal fishing lake.
Coast/Beach
You can reach the beautiful golden Vendee beaches within an hour. Most beaches are backed by sand dunes and pine forests with large areas for picnics and scenic coastal walks. The Vendee coast stretches for 120km and boasts many blue flag awards. There is also a large man-made beach/activity park within 25 mins drive at nearby Xanton-Chassenon.
Travel
Nearest airports are La Rochelle and Nantes, 45 mins and 1 hours drive respectively. Poitiers is also accessible by car in 1 hour 15 mins. Airport transfers can be arranged. The driving times from the channel ports are St Malo (3 hours), Caen (4 hours) and Cherbourg (5 hours). Access from other ports is also possible. Use of a car is recommended.
Distances
We are 12km from the market towns of Fontenay-le-Comte and 15km from Lucon. The pretty harbour of La Rochelle with its famous aquarium, numerous bars and restaurants and great shopping is approx. 50 mins drive. Futuroscope and Puy de Fou are approx. 1.5 hour's drive. The Marais Poitevin with its sleepy waterways, boat rides and beautiful abbeys is under 30 minutes by car. The Mervent Forest is 25 mins by car. Atlantic beaches are within an hour.
Further details
Village Bar/restaurant 5 min. walk. Bank with cash machine, small well-stocked supermarket, hairdressers, tabac, boulongerie etc. less than 5 mins. by car. Larger superstores 15 mins. by car in Fontenay-le-Comte or Lucon, together with numerous restaurants, hospital and all other general amenities. For wine lovers, the nearby cave at Pissotte produces and sells direct to the public well-known local red and white wines, and there are several vineyards to visit. There are numerous traditional french markets in many surrounding villages and towns including Fontenay (Saturdays), St Hermine (Fridays) Coulonges-sur-L'Autize (Tuesdays) etc. Every 2 years (even numbers), Fontenay-le-Comte holds a magnificent carnival with floats and dancers from around the world (2012). The whole event is finished with a magnificent firework display on the third night.
Our next village (L'Hermenault) holds a huge ancient fair every year in September. St Martin has a large village fete in September. All around the immediate area, there are numerous fairs, fetes and concerts throughout the holiday season. Refer to Vendee information sites for more details.
Booking notes
For all gite & cottage reservations, we require a 25% deposit at the time of booking, which is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Your balance to be paid within 8 weeks of arrival date, together with a security cheque for £200 per week against damages, and returnable after your stay.
