Li Sian Ben (a Provencal phrase meaning ‘this is a good place to stay’) is located in a stunning area of Provence surrounded by vineyards. The house is a beautifully restored Provencal bastide and has 5 acres of land with areas of mature fruit trees. It offers a real sense of tranquillity, once you arrive there is no need to go anywhere. Cotignac is one of the most charming villages in the region and is 3km away, offering wonderful food and antique markets, shops and restaurants and it is within easy reach of attractions such as St. Tropex, Aix-en-provence and the Gorge de Verdon.

Changeover day
Saturday is changeover day, we may be able to be flexible in low season. Arrival time is 4pm. Departure time is 10am.

Bathrooms: Bathroom 1 with free-standing cast iron bath, large walk-in shower, ceramic sink set on antique chest of drawers and WC. Serves bedrooms 1 & 2
Bathroom 2 is en-suite to bedroom 3 & 4 and has shower, WC and sink.
Kitchen: Beautiful, brand new, Chalon kitchen with island, A well supplied kitchen for any chef, with all modern appliances including cooker, gas hob, integrated dishwasher, fridge/freezer with ice making machine, extra fridge drawers and integral washing machine.
Living Rooms: Provencal fire place with wood burning stove, 2 x double sofas, TV and DVD player, system for your own i-pod. Door into converted barn where there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Door opening onto South facing terrace.
Other: The kitchen is a wonderfully sociable area with plenty of space for people to sit around the island. It has doors to the kitchen courtyard, and to the south terrace. The dining room has a square table which seats 8 and doors to east and south terraces.

Linen, bath and pool towels are included. Mid-stay maid service is not included but can be arranged. Pre-arrival grocery shopping and 3 course dinners can be arranged at very good prices, menus available.

Notes on accommodation
There are bikes available for use including a baby seat available. Also there is a selection of children's toys, some DVDs. There are good quality fans if required and a telephone which can be used and charged back.

Bedroom 1 and the downstairs bathroom could accommodate wheelchair access.

Outside
The south terrace with iron pergola and dining table for alfresco dining, gas BBQ, 3 doors on the front elevation of house open on to this terrace, this terrace gets the evening sun. Terrace 2 with iron pergola, sofa and coffee table, stunning views of vineyards (dining room and bedroom 2 open onto this terrace). The The Pool area with terrace and garden is a wonderfully private space, and surrounded by wrought iron security fencing for your peace of mind. The pool has a beach entrance, there are sun beds and umbrellas provided and a striking sunken lounge for getting shade seakers to read or take a nap under the wooden framed canopy. There is a courtyard linking the kitchen and the pool area. The property has it's own Bouledrome in front of the house on the south side, which is endless fun for all age groups. Also in this area is a most wonderful spot under the Mulberry Tree to take aperitifs and enjoy the sunset. The property is set in picturesque grounds of about 5 acres.

Several beaches can be found about 1 hour drive away.

Nice 1¼ hour. Toulon 1 hour. Nimes 1½ hour. Marseilles 1½ hour. Car essential.

Further details
Explore the local lanes surrounding the vines on the bikes provided or challenge your guests to a game of boule on the bouledrome or you could just find a quiet place to sit away from the children and finish your book. If you need to be accessable your mobile phone will work and we have wifi. There is also a DVD player with a selection of kids and adults films. Visit the local vineyards to sample or buy the fantastic local wine. Send your family off hiking in the Luberon or kayaking or horse riding for the day or swim in the refreshing waters of the Cascade in Cotignac or at Sillans. There is no end of activities for those that want them but if all you need is tranquility you will find it at Li Sian Ben.

Booking notes
Bookings should be accompanied by a non-refundable 30% deposit of the rental fee. The balance and a returnable, breakage deposit of 500 euros should be paid 8 weeks before arrival. The breakages deposit will be returned by post at the end of the rental.

About the owner
We are a British family with 3 children.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We found this farmhouse in 2005 . It needed complete renovation but was a beautiful building hidden in a stunning valley full of vines. We wanted it to feel like a home not a holiday house, not just for us but for anyone who stayed there. Its now been completed in a chic farmhouse style, very open to the nature that surrounds it but full of the comforts you would expect in a boutique hotel. Its a very social house but full of quiet corners you can enjoy the calmness. My favourite time is at night, after dinner, to walk into the vines and look back under the huge starlit sky at your family and friends laughing under the lanterns of the mulberry tree. Its a feeling you keep for a long time afterwards.

Unique benefits of the property
The location of the house is crucial.While we wanted space and privacy we also wanted to be close to great restaurants and interesting places to visit. Cotignac is the premier town of the region. It has only the best things of France that you want to enjoy on your holiday. But its also great to dip into the madness of the coast,we often jump in the car at 5pm and head to St.Tropez for some shopping and supper or to Aix for the galleries and the restaurants.During the day its great to cycle and swim at the house or at the beautiful cascade in Cotignac or kayak at the Gorge Du Verdon or head to the medieval market towns for lunch.Or if you'd rather take it easy once the active people have left for the day there are so many places around the house for a nice calming sleep.
