Accessibility
All our rooms are located on the first and second floors of our house and are therefore perhaps unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
We have a beautiful large flat walled garden, ideal for lazing around in, or taking afternoon tea in the shade of our lime trees.
Coast/Beach
Bessines sur Gartempe (5 mins drive) has a small lake and supervised bathing area with sandy beach. Large grass area and café.
Lake St Pardoux is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. Fabulous sandy beach, restaurant, café and play area make this a great day out (15 mins drive).
Golf
Limoges has a "municipal" course and the stunning "Golf de la Porcelaine" which will impress all players with its beautifully kept greens and fairways. Its stone built clubhouse and challenging course layout (35 euros for 18 holes).
Travel
Nearest airport - Limoges 35 minutes away.
Easy access from A20 autoroute - exit 23.1 from the north or 24 from the south.
Distances
Bessines sur Gartempe, our local busy small town is 5 mins away. Limoges, famous for its pottery and enamel artwork is just 25 mins away.
Lake St Pardoux (beach, play-area, walking and watersports) is 15 mins drive.
Further details
The stunning gorges of the River Creuse, mediaeval fortified towns and busy French markets are all within a short drive.

Our frist time in france and this b&b was an excellent choice.Good location,only 5 minutes from the A20 and 30 minutes to Limoges.The owners are very welcoming and nothing is to much trouble .La Traverse was very clean and comfortable and by the end of our five night stay we felt sad to leave this beautiful place.We would highly recommend this b&b
Having studied hotel & restaurant management one thing we were told is when a guest stays in a room they should feel as if they are the first to do so - and this was just like that. The room was so clean, so bright and airy, crisp linens, comfy bed and of course meal in the garden under the lime trees, cooked to perfection,stunning house run by fantastic people - go and stay (for more than one night as well!)

About the owner
After running a very busy Holiday Park near Weymouth, West Dorset, my wife and I decided to move to France with our 18 month old daughter.
Following two years of renovation we opened La Traverse Chambres D'Hotes (Bed and Breakfast), providing luxurious accommodation in a very convenient location.

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
Having read an article on the Limousin region, my wife, Kate, trawled through the numerous French estate agents websites looking for our dream house. The moment Kate saw a picture of the property, she knew this was 'the one'!
We knew we wanted to run a B&B so the fact that La Traverse is perfectly situated just 5 minutes from the A20 motorway just north of Limoges is an added bonus. A day's drive from the channel ports, Holland and Belgium and half-way between Paris and Toulouse means that we are ideally placed for a short stay stop over.
However, as we are surrounded by the beautiful Limousin countryside, with rolling green hills and an abundance of lakes offering beaches, water sports, hiking and cycling trails, many of our guests stay for longer periods to unwind and relax.

We will endeavour to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. You can dine by candlelight in our beautiful garden in the Summer or in our elegant dining room with the log fire roaring away in the Winter.
Many of our guests have returned several times already, happy in the knowledge that we will welcome them with a smile, they will enjoy wonderful food and that a very comfortable bed awaits them!
