Only 5½ hours drive from Calais our comfortable former farmhouse is set in idyllic countryside. Secluded and enclosed mature gardens of approx. 3/4 acre. BBQ and garden furniture with sun loungers surrounding the heated swimming pool. Suitable for families sharing or friends' get-togethers. The house is tranquil and has a certain charm. The living room has its original flag stone floor, a typical Burgundian beamed ceiling and a magnificent open fireplace, leading onto an elegant formal dining room. The sleepy village of La Riviere is situated between Beaune and Dijon in the heart of Burgundy, the wine capital and gastronomic centre of France. Also within easy reach is the town of Autun with its Roman market square, ampitheatre, cathedral and museums, ten pin bowling and many restaurants. We are also on the edge of the Morvan National Park with beautiful forests and lakes, particularly Lake Settons where you can hire sailing boats, hobby cats, pedaloes or go water skiing.

Saturday is changeover day, guests are asked to leave before 10am and arrive after 4pm.

Notes on accommodation
The house is fully centrally heated in winter. It is an ideal place for large families to meet up or friends to share, with plenty of space for everyone.
Outside
The heated pool is 10x5m with Roman steps into the shallow end, the deep end measures 2m. It is surrounded by a large patio with sun-loungers and is in a completely enclosed area around the house. From the back door is a covered area with large table and seating for 10 close to the BBQ.
Golf
We have Chateau de Chailly about 20 min drive from our house, a beautifully restored traditional french chateau with amazing grounds. Open to the public with a choice of restaurants.
Special interest holidays
Perfect position for visiting the famous Cote d'Or vineyards which stretch south-west to the ancient wine town of Beaune, with its beautiful Hotel-Dieux. Savigny les Beaune, Aloxe Corton, Nuits St George, Gevry Chambertain, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny- Montrachet and Chassagne- Montrachet just to name a few within easy sampling distance.
Travel
5½ hours from either Calais or Boulogne. Channel tunnel or ferry from Dover. Nearest airport either Lyons or Grenobles. TGV / Eurostar trains go to Dijon. Car hire available from here, and essential to get to house.
Distances
Nearest village Arnay le Duc, 6 miles all amenities and market on Thursday's. Autun, 12 miles, market on Wednesday's Roman ampitheatre, cathedral, museums, ten pin bowling, lake for watersports. Dijon, 35 miles renowned for architecture, art and mustard.
