Chalet is conveniently located 5 min walk from Bourg centre in quiet rural setting above market town. Part of a small attractive low-rise development with beautiful south views over Isere valley. Accommodation includes open-plan kitchen, living room, bathroom and WC, with bedroom and mezzanine upstairs. Large south facing balcony with spectacular views. Les Arcs/La Plagne easily accessed via funiculaire, 5min drive or 15min walk. Easy 30min drive to Espace Killy and Trois Vallees makes this an ideal location for exploring a variety of resorts. Bourg has direct Eurostar access with car hire available. Chambery/Lyons airports 1 to 2 hours respectively. Easy drive from Channel ports. Chalet is good base for summer sports eg canoeing, climbing, rafting, swimming, tennis, mountain walking, biking, horse riding, and summer skiing at Tignes. Col de Petit St Bernard into Italy is 30min drive. Bourg is a thriving pretty market town offering a good range of restaurants and shops all year.

Accessibility
Chalet is about 100-150m from car park, up a gradual staircase. There are stairs within chalet to master bedroom and mezzanine. This property is probably not suitable for most wheelchair users.

South facing balcony is large enough for dining and sun bathing. Chalet in shared grounds.

Skiing
Les Arcs/Paradiski accessible direct from Bourg via funiculaire (7 min ride included in pass). Station 5min drive, 15min walk from chalet with free parking. It is possible to rent ski lockers in ski hire shop adjacent to funiculaire station if necessary. Tignes/Val D'Isere, La Plagne, La Rosiere, St Foy, Courcheval, Meribel, Val Thorens 30-40 minute drive. A day skiing in Espace Killy and Trois Vallees free with some 6 day lift passes - see Les Arcs website for details.
Travel
Airports: Chambery 64 miles, Lyon 130 miles, Geneva 99 miles. Train: Eurostar direct from London to Bourg St Maurice. Driving: Le Harve 535 miles, Calais 570 miles. Car Hire available in town or station. Car is recommended but not essential. Free parking in private car park 100-150m from chalet.
Further details
Bourg is an excellent centre for both skiing and summer mountain pursuits. Town provides facilities for hiring equipment and has a seasonal entertainment programme. In summer it is possible to drive over mountain passes to Italy and neighbouring attractive Beaufort Valley.
Bourg is a charming traditional town with weekly market, specialist food and artisan shops as well as larger supermarkets, banks, cinema, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and extensive sporting activities.

Email or phone to request booking. £150 deposit required at time of booking and full balance due one month before start departure. Returnable deposit of £250 against breakages and leaving chalet in good order to be received by beginning of holiday.

About the owner
Our chalet/apartment is shared by four siblings. Our parents bought it in the 1980's and we have all enjoyed skiing at the various resorts in the Isere valley, first as a whole family and more latterly with our own families on an at least annual basis. More recently we have travelled out in the summer and been amazed at how beautiful is the scenery and how much there is to do when the snow has melted. As we are all tied down to jobs and school terms, we decided to let the chalet for other times - apart from making the chalet pay its way, we are also pleased that others can enjoy the mountains at a reasonable cost.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We are all keen skiers and so after skiing in various resorts, my parents bought this chalet for its proximity to many different ski resorts with a good snow record and ease of access; as students we would travel to Bourg by train to ski independently with friends. Over the years the resorts have all developed and some new ones appeared so the chalet has offered the necessary variety. Some of us hire a local guide to discover more remote off piste and mountain activities. More recently we have discovered downhill biking, extended mountain walks using refuge accommodation, as well as enjoying the flora and fauna of the mountains in the summer.
