Set in the heart of the tranquil rolling French countryside of the South Vienne near to the historic city of Poitiers, lie the cluster of attractive stone built buildings known as La Logerie. Set in 16 acres, a small tree lined stream meanders its way through the grounds providing a cool and pleasant retreat from the sun. Alternatively take a dip in the impressive 12 by 6 metre pool with its spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, or for the sun worshippers, simply lounge by the pool side or on the individual private terraces to each cottage. To complete that perfect day perhaps a barbeque in the evening with a glass or two of the local wine. The area is ideal for walking and cycling and within easy reach is the River Vienne for water activities, and the town of Poitiers, Cognac and the coast. The pretty village of Mauprevoir is 2Kms away. A small well stocked supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy, post office and bar combine to make the village so evocatively rural French.

Please note that for Camellia and Rose cottages there is a supplement of £75 per person per week for parties of more than 6 persons.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover is a Saturday during peak season but is flexible in low season. Arrival time is not before 5pm and departure is no later than 10am.

This the largest of our cottages has exposed stone walls with a wealth of oak beams. All three bedrooms have en suite shower rooms and separate wc's. 1 double on the ground floor, upstairs, one double with additional single bed and one twin with double sofa bed. The cottage has a large open plan kitchen/diner/lounge with an additional double sofa bed. The kitchen is equipped for 11 people and includes an electric hob, oven, fridgefreezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffe maker, kettle and toaster. There are electric heaters for the cooler months and satellite tv, English and French, is available in the lounge. There are hair dryers in each of the shower rooms and an iron and ironing board is provided. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine available for the use of guests. The private terrace is provided with wooden tables, chairs, parasol and a barbeque.

This our medium sized cottage set on different levels has a wealth of oak beams. It has three bedrooms upstairs, 1 double and 2 twin, and a shower room and separate wc. The cottage has a large open plan diner/lounge with an additional double sofa bed. The kitchen is equipped for 8 people and includes an electric hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffe maker, kettle and toaster. There are electric heaters for the cooler months and in the lounge satellite tv, (English and French). Also on the ground floor there is a second wc. There is a hair dryer in the shower room and an iron and ironing board is provided. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine available for the use of guests. The private terrace is provided with wooden tables, chairs, parasol and a barbeque.

This our smallest cottage with no steps or stairs has a wealth of oak beams. It has 1 double bedroom with an en suite shower room and wc. The cottage has an open plan diner/kitchen/lounge with an additional double sofa bed. The kitchen is equipped for 4 people and includes an electric hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. There are electric heaters for the cooler months and in the lounge satellite tv, (English and French). There is a hair dryer in the shower room and an iron and ironing board is provided. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine available for the use of guests. The private terrace is provided with wooden tables, chairs, parasol and a barbeque.

 

Notes on accommodation
Towels and bed linen are provided but please bring your own pool towels. Cots, a baby bath and high chairs are available free of charge on request.

Please note that for Camellia and Rose cottages there is a supplement of £75 per person per week for parties of over 6 persons.

Accessibility
Two of our cottages have ground floor bedrooms which may suit people with restricted mobility.

Outside
Available to all guests is a suberb walled, alarmed and heated swimming pool measuring 12 metres by six metres, incorporating Roman steps and a solar shower. The pool is surrounded by a patio area where sunbeds, cushions and parasols are provided. There is also a covered terrace area overlooking the pool for relaxing or playing table tennis or darts. In the grounds there are badminton, volley ball and boules courts with all equipment provided. There is also a separate enclosed children's play area with adventure fort, slide, swings, see-saws, stepping stones, sand pit, croquet and picnic table. It is possible to fish in the stream which runs through La Logerie and also to stroll along its banks and the tree lined and shaded perimeter of its extensive grounds.

Coast/Beach
La Rochelle on the coast is approximately 2 hours drive away. Nearby there are numerous lakes and rivers providing water sports and areas for sunbathing and swimming.

Travel
Poitiers airport is approximately 45 minutes and Limoges airport is approximately 75 minutes away by car. Calais is approximately 6.5 and Caen approximately 5 hours away by car. To enjoy your holiday you will need your own vehicle.

Distances
The village of Mauprevoir is 2 Kms away, Civray (the nearest largest town) is 15 Kms away with a selection of small shops and large supermarkets. There is a market here every Tuesday and Friday. Confolens is 25 Kms away situated on the river Vienne with numerous bars and restaurants and is well worth a visit. Nearby places of interest include Futurescope, The Valle des Singes (Monkey Park), Chavigny with its Birds of Prey and Snake Island. Please see website for further details.

Further details
The local village has a supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy , bar, hairdressers and petrol station. There is also a local Doctor available. There are numerous restaurants in the area, please see website for details. There are a number of Banks and Supermarkets within a short drive.
