Charming villa situated on a hillside outside the medieval village of Montauroux and on the grounds of a beautiful old Chateau. The villa enjoys magnificent views over the valley and has a very charming garden. The house was built in two levels with an independent apartment on the lower level and the main house on the upper level. There is a covered balcony that runs along the house and gives the house a certain charm and from which you have the possibility to enjoy the views. There is a nice pool and a nice large terrace surrounding it. The garden is very charming with several terraces, one for the pool, one for shade and one for the evening BBQ. There is a separate area for children with swings.

The change over day is Saturday. You have to leave the property before 10 oclock in the morning and arrival after 4pm.

The villa is suitable for children but not for smaller children.
There is electrical heating and the living area has A/C.

Accessibility
The area is very hilly and the house is situated high above a small access road. It is build close to a stone wall and the house is in two levels. It has steps to the entrance and to the garden area which is in several levels. It is not suitable for handicapped.

Outside
Swimming pool is private and 4x8m. The pool is heated.
There is a very nice garden and several terraces. There are lounge chairs by pool. Garden furniture by pool and BBQ area. There is a gas BBQ. Dining area on covered balcony.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is in Cannes which is only 20 min drive away. We can very easily reach all the most famous coastal towns on Cote d'Azur.

Golf
There are many golf courses in the area. Within an hour you can reach at least 10.
The closest is Terre Blance which is only 10 min drive away. They have two 18 whole golf courses.
This area is a paradise for golfers.

Skiing
In the winter you can find good skiing only one hour north of here - but really good alpine skiing is at Isola which is about 2 hours drive. We go skiing just for the day.

Travel
Nice airport is only 50 min drive away.
You will need a car in this area.

Distances
The nearest village is 5 min drive away. Fayence which is the largest of the local villages is 15 min drive away.
Cannes 30 min and Nice 60.

Further details
We are only 5 min drive from the lake Lac St. Cassian where you can swim, rent paddle boats and canoes.
You also have the mountains behind us which gives good possibilities for walks and trips. The Gorge du Verdon is a one hours drive away.

Booking notes
When booking we ask for a 30% deposit to reserve the villa.
The final payment is due 8 weeks before your arrival. At this point we also ask for an additional 25% refundable deposit.

Guest comments
Our family holidayed for the first time in Maison Jasmin in the summer of 2010. We chose the property from the Owners Direct website and were obviously slightly nervous whether the house would actually match the description on the site. We need not have worried; the property far exceeded all our expectations: it was tastefully furnished, spacious and very clean. The kitchen was very well stocked: no broken crockery or mismatching glasses here! The nights we decided to stay in and cook, we never felt that something was missing. The entire house had a real feeling of homeliness attached to it and it was obvious that the owners had gone to great lengths to ensure that their quests felt comfortable. The house also has a little one bedroom apartment in the basement (with views) which is ideal if you are intending to have family or friends over. The pool was clean and we spent a lot of time there. About the owner
We have hiked, biked, sailed, swum and skied (and eaten and drunk) in France for more years than we care to admit. Now we have found a place to roost for increasing periods each year, with family, friends and grandchildren passing through. We found Maison Jasmin almost by accident (or fate) and fell in love with it on the spot and, although we had not meant to buy for another three years, we couldn’t let it go. We have really enjoyed working on the house (one an artist and one an engineer) and on developing its garden, to make it our second home. We especially hope that our visitors take as much pleasure in it as we do.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted to be in the south of France but not on the “Cote” with its hurry and bustle. Montauroux is a lovely traditional, historic village with a strong sense of its own identity where you can escape from trinkets and discotheques. We have, however, experienced great friendliness and a warm welcome at local festivals, concerts, restaurants and markets. Shopping for food and eating out is a joy. There is scenic walking in nature reserves and a huge variety of water sports within 10 minutes, and all the culture and beach life of the azure coast for day trips. However, we find it takes some strength of will to stop ‘doing nothing at all’ and to leave the villa’s pool, the terraces and the incredible views over miles of countryside.

Unique benefits of the property
This is a family home, so not only do we need it to work for us, but also we like to feel it’s a home from home for guests, too. They have described it as idyllic, tranquil and charming. The previous owner called it an “easy” house and that just about sums it up, really. You will also be looked after personally by somebody who knows the house, the area and the language, which makes it easier still. The kitchen is well equipped, so you can be as domestic as you like. Strictly speaking you need only bring a toothbrush, an iPod and a laptop. Then there are those views! Sunrise and moonrise are both spectacular, as are the stars.
